Re: Was Ferrari wrong to let Arrivabene go?

I think Ferrari has certainly worsened under Binotto (notwithstanding the fact that they weren't exactly perfect under Arrivabene) and he seems somewhat out of his depth as a TP. But as someone alluded to earlier it seems Binotto was forcing a choice between him and Arrivabene so Ferrari were betwe...

Re: 2019 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread

Just watched the highlights of C4. The tribute for Niki at the end was spot on. I don't think there could have been a more fitting song used. (the impossible dream) Why would "the impossible dream" be fitting? :? Possibly because of this line (among others): That one man, scorned and covered with s...

Re: Vettel vs. Leclerc

Ferrari are probably licking their chops at the point differential starting to build between their drivers. Any excuse to continue propping up Vettel (1/2 facetious 1/2 truth). Leclerc will have to really show what he's made of over the next few races. Yeah I'm sure they're over the moon with how t...

Re: Unpopular opinions (2019)

Here’s another one: Alonso was extremely good at qualifying an average or poor car higher than it should be. But when pole position was a serious possibility, he was a bit of a choker. Bahrain 2010 Germany 2010 Canada 2011 Hungary 2011 That’s something I noticed as I was watching old races from 201...

Just listened to team radio of Leclerc saying with complete confidence they need to go for another lap and they told him no LOL Leclerc really has one arm tied behind his back and perhaps it's starting to affect him given how he drove in the race? Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2019 Monaco Grand Prix

Anybody can make an attempt at a pass at Monaco if they are not too concerned about the outcome damaging their race ask Leclerc. Because of course they are exactly the same situation :uhoh: There was nothing special in what Verstappen did like you are trying to make out. He fought for a position wh...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2019 Monaco Grand Prix

Crashed into Bottas in the pit lane (more so teams fault) and he had maybe 2 small lock ups behind Hamilton in the closing stages of the race and then the failed attempt to overtake. He didn’t have a bad race but I just can’t vote for him over a Lewis when Lewis literally made no mistakes whilst be...

Hamilton - no mistakes even whilst on the wrong tyre whilst max behind him locked up a few times and also caused a collision with his poorly executed move. Yes he moaned but the moaning isn’t a big deal for me. The radio is his only life line to his engineers so of course he is going to tell them t...

Clearly Ferrari screwed his race the day before but I'm not much impressed by Leclerc saying he didn't care if he crashed given that's exactly what he did. Ferrari ruined his qualifying agreed, but he destroyed his race himself. Well, he sort of did what Hamilton did in 2017. Did not perform at a r...

Yeah, Gasly's fastest lap on lap 72 was nearly 3s faster than Hamilton was going on the same lap. Clearly pace wasn't the determining factor, as it usually never is at Monaco!

Just because he wasn't penalised doesn't mean anything. Maybe because Charlie Whiting wasn't there and they aren't so on the ball. Maybe what happened with Verstappen changed there application of the rules. He dropped 7 seconds to Hamilton who we know was not speeding and likely driving the delta. ...

As far as I can recall tyres have never been much of an issue at Monaco so I don't really get what all the fuss is about. The traction on that Merc ensured that Max was never going to be in a position to get past, so I don't get all the dramatics. Sainz also spent most of the race keeping cars behin...

Max for me, easily. The Merc’s monster traction meant he could get close enough where it mattered but otherwise he put immense pressure in Lewis and the engine made the difference in the end

Whoever has ever looked to give this triple crown so much importance in the past and to try and equate it to winning multiple F1 WDC's is laughable. I think laughable is a little strong tbh. Another form of a "triple crown" which I think could mean more than winning the 3 races, is winning Championships in 1. F1, 2. Indycar, 3. WEC/endurance racing.
