These guys won't be paid PAYE or whatever they have in the USA. With the current points system, if the Merc/RB/Ferrari/Lotus drivers are within 20-30pts of each other, they have performed reasonably evenly IMO.
I don't think Rosberg will finish ahead though.

tbh, the pit lane exit is badly designed at Yas Marinas. You're exiting, blind, into the racing line of the exit of a high speed corner. The situation with Vergne and Alonso, they couldn't see each other until they were just about touching, and not being that aware they might be there.... not a good...

One of the problems is so many of the tracks are now fundamentally very similar. If a team/driver combo masters tracks of that style, they dominate. Similar with the tyres, if a team/driver can master the tyres, they are advantaged. I'd like to see F1 spiced up a bit, a bit more variation in tracks/...

Re: Official 2013 Abu Dhabi Race thread.
The JEV and Alonso situation is quite a tough one. F1 cars have crap visibility, so Alonso won't see Vergne until both are in the corner, but Vergne will see Alonso as he exits the pits. It's a strange situation that either driver easing off could of resulted in a big accident. If Alonso backs off, ...

Just look at his CV, not just as a team principle, but his achievements dating all the way back to the late 70's. His record speaks for itself. By all means sanitise it a bit, smoothing it, and better run off, but don't completely destroy it like that!
You'd be ruining one of the great corners in motorsport. It'd be like getting rid of the Parabolica and replacing it with a infield section. No no no no no.

For a 4 time WDC, 30+ race winner, Vettel has so few truely memorable drives. It's always been a criticism of Newey that his cars are fragile.
However he has designed some of the most dominant (non Ferrari) cars in the sport over the last 20yrs. When Newey get's it right the car is capable of the spectacular.

I think penalties are banded about too easily these days. It's Monza. A 200mph track, braking into 50-60-70mph chicanes. There are always incidents at the start. In the case of Raikonnen, a car cut across him on a crowded track into one of the tightest corners, and biggest braking zones on the calen...

There is very little between the 'big 4', whoever has the best overall car between them usually would be expected to win if nothing goes too wrong. A few kilos of rubber hitting your head at 180mph, would generate enough force to potentially kill, be it as a direct result (neck fracture, blunt trauma), or indirect (crash when semi concious/unconcious/blinded). The alternative to this isn't processional races. Nobody wants to go back to them.
However that was one extreme, this is another. Lets try strife for a less polarised tyre policy. We can surely get tyres that are a bit more durable, allowing for a bit more aggression, etc.
