Re: What does Hamilton have to do to become an all time grea
Hamilton’s mistake in Austria was more costly than you make it sound. He was on the same winning strategy as Verstappen and 7 seconds further up the road. He ended up 5th because of that mistake and threw away at least a podium even if you account for Mercedes’ issues there. Likewise, Lewis started...

Re: What does Hamilton have to do to become an all time grea
Hamilton has made two serious mistakes this year. Austria and Germany. Verstappen has only made one. What serious mistake did he make in Austria? Damaging his front wing running wide on the kerb. So we're now drawing an equivalence between a mistake that forces you to change your nose and a mistake...

Re: Verstappen / Kimi turn one collision
No mate. I can't just let that slide when the video is right there. Max is NOT alongside Kimi until after the cars are on the brakes. He is behind him and he tries an extremely optimistic lunge. He was never making that corner unless Kimi backed off completely and just allowed Max to overtake him. ...

Re: Verstappen / Kimi turn one collision
Why don't YOU check the replay? I've posted it below. Go to the 44 second mark of the video. It's clear that Max enters the braking zone behind Raikkonen completely and even slightly behind the Racing Point that is next to him. He just brakes much later than anyone else while approaching the corner...

Re: Verstappen / Kimi turn one collision
Nope. I said Kimi would have been better off had he left more space (which is obvious due to the fact that the collision ruined his race). Max would also have been better off had he not tried to lunge there from so far back. You are only looking at this from one side apparently, though I cannot und...

Re: Verstappen / Kimi turn one collision
Also, why is no one mentioning about Lewis crowding Seb off the track at the same corner? It looked naughty what he did, just so that he could have great acceleration down the hill, and is completely different to the line he took at turn 1 in Baku 2019 with Bottas, where he delayed getting on the p...

Re: Verstappen / Kimi turn one collision
I think they both got it wrong there. Kimi should probably have expected that someone might be in his blind spot there and left a little room by default. Max had a bad start and I think he was being overly aggressive there trying to make up for it. He should have known that was likely to happen. Ca...

Re: 2019 Belgium Grand Prix Race Thread
I think the Ferrari was the quickest car this weekend. Hamilton made the difference. I think Ferrari was quicker in qualifying but Mercedes were quicker in the race. What we saw in qualifying and the race exactly mirrored practice. It's also logical, Ferrari gains loads on the straights in qualifyi...

Re: Albon versus Verstappen
I hate to say it but that looked pretty poor from Albon. Yes, he's probably a bit better than Gasly but he needs to be a significant improvement over him. I can't see Red Bull challenging for second in the Constructors Cup. It's not Albon's job to finish 6th like someone above said, his job is to b...

Re: 2019 Belgium Grand Prix Race Thread
I absolutely believe that Merc had the faster race car overall today. Two things saved Leclerc - the Safety Car and the back-up job by Vettel And that's not to say Hamilton or Bottas could do anything about it. Factors outside of their control meant Leclerc beat them to the line. They both had the ...

Re: Vettel vs. Leclerc
After Spa Vettel leads Leclerc 169 - 157, or 12 points. This is right where most of the poll has the season going. OTOH young Charles seems to have the momentum with 8 races to go in the season. I believe it will be very close but it could easily be a coin flip as to who wins this teammate battle. ...

Re: 2019 Belgium Grand Prix Race Thread
This line of thinking carries with it the fundamental assumption that Leclerc has comparable race pace to Hamilton (something which I see no evidence to support). The only driver on the grid who seems to be in Hamilton's league when it comes to sustaining an incredibly fast race pace is Max. Charle...

I expect a similar race at Monza with a Ferrari front row lockout and Merc with the race pace advantage with a tight race to the finish. Re: Albon versus Verstappen
The question I ask is; would Gasly have been able to start at the back and finish P5? My answer is undoubtedly "no". Albon performed well. he was under control and not overly aggressive yet he got the job done and beat everyone he could possibly be expected to beat. Excellent job IMO.

Re: 2019 Belgium Grand Prix Race Thread

Re: 2019 Belgium Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Threa
Ever since France, Leclerc has either been quick or lightning in qualifying. I heard they're able to use that much more power over 1 lap than their main rivals? Does he have more power over one lap than Vettel? It's five times in a row he's out-qualified Vettel now, and this was the largest margin ...

Great lap from Charles. Let's see if he can finally bring home the win. Ferrari looks to be in a class of their own when it comes to straight line performance. If they can just get their act together they have a chance at 2 wins on the trot.

So that's it for Hulk then. Like Perez, he will never get that top drive. I think a move to Haas is pretty much inevitable now and then it's just a matter of how long he can hang on in F1. He clearly is a talented driver but he just never managed to make something truly special happen in the races. ...

Re: Should Bottas contract be extended?
Its the logical result. Bottas is a good No. 2 driver - and not going to challenge Hamilton. It is only a good decision if Merc produces another fairly dominant car imo. You’d have to think both Ferrari and Redbull will be stronger next year. You have Verstappen, Vettel, Leclerc in those cars. Bott...

I think it's important to note that nearly all of Hamilton's WDC's have come in the turbo-hybrid era. In this era all you really have to do to win the WDC is beat the guy in the other Merc. How many of the current grid would beat Bottas in the same car? 40-70% of them? Are they All-Time Greats as w...

Vettel still has his occasional nightmare and Charles has been wildly inconsistent. Daniel has also had ...
