Re: Help me rate these drivers from best to worst
Why do we need a ratings system we already have one? Number of pole positions, number of podiums, number of wins. If you want this rating can be scaled based on number of races entered and other factors. Does that not completely ignore the level of competitiveness of the car they were in each season?

Re: Budget Cap Breach Rumours
If going over budget increases the development of the car, and thus increases its overall speed, then it needs to be looked at in the same way they would look at it if the engine capacity was just slightly above what it's allowed to be, or brakes were slightly bigger than allowed. The fact that a bu...

Re: Budget Cap Breach Rumours
Interested to hear what comes of this and what the overspending was. I've read reports that even half a million is more than enough to develop and produce a revised floor, something that can increase a car's performance significantly. Other TP have seen the opportunity to gain from this story, so t...

Re: 2022 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
Running wide is not the same as corner cutting, it's good to see them do that, you can't make a legal pass if it involves going off the track, the same should apply to defending position, the only caveat in both cases is if you are deemed to have been forced off the track, for me it's a way forward...

Re: 2022 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
I said if you skip across a chicane but I would also be in favour of the proposal you outline. Pre concrete run off you'd either be in the wall or lose time in the gravel. I don't see why a driver should be able to use what is effectively a safety device to maintain position. If you pressure the gu...

Re: 2022 an improvement?
I think it's a significant improvement and could (hopefully) be better next year as more teams get to grips with the regs. I'm not after passing being easy but cars running closer makes things more exciting and any small mistake from a driver is more likely to be punished. The cars look far far bett...

Re: 2022 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
I've long said that if you skip a chicane and there is a driver behind you within 1 second then you should automatically have to concede that position. Essentially Perez may not have been about to overtake Leclerc but had he bean 5 seconds back it seems very unlikely to me Leclerc makes that mistak...

Re: 2022 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
From the stewards' verdict: The thing is, Charles was never attacked into the chicane by Perez and although he braked too late, it didn't stop Perez from passing because he was too far back, as he was during all those previous laps. However, Perez then may have passed Charles had he not been squeez...

So, Leclerc got a penalty for gaining an advantage by going off track. Am I right? So, the entire world's media can go the entire race without knowing what points are going to be scored. Only in F1 can this happen.

Re: 2022 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
Charles never got threatened at the chicane for lap after lap and although he went wide once, it was not because Perez was going to pass him. It was simply a mistake. I need to see it again, but I could see a penalty for squeeze Perez out on the run to the flag, but not the chicane.

On purpose-built circuits, I can never work out why you get so much standing water and rivers flowing across them. They can do what they like with drainage and camber. It's bonkers.
