Re: F1 is boring

Sure, but if it's all just potential it's worthless to us as viewers. The fact is that in 2004/5 races were run quicker (admittedly a small sample) so while the cars may be engineering miracles they haven't made any steps that translate to extra performance on track. And the other factor of course ...

Re: 2019 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Threa

I suspect you have chosen to miss the point. The simple matter is that bringing up team orders in qualifying was unnecessary, not relevent, yet still they brought it up...even if to say it couldn't happen. That, was the point I was trying to make. On that note, let's leave it...I sure as heck don't ...

Re: Unpopular opinions (2019)

One more addition to my list... The sky broadcast team may be the most irritating race coverage team I have ever heard. I don't mind Brundle, but I really don't like Crofty. He tries to be funnier than he is, and he makes a ton of mistakes calling out drivers (i.e. Q3 when he mistook Leclerc for Ra...

Re: Unpopular opinions (2019)

Here's one: Points should be awarded to 15th place. The argument against it that I've seen is that it cheapens a race victory, or that F1 shouldn't award "participation points". But this isn't a hand-out for showing up. You still earn more points for superior performance, you still have to finish th...

Re: F1 is boring

All good races in Australia. The circuit hasn't changed since then. The cars have. They are noticeably bigger and faster than ever before. Yeah. Faster cars obviously have the effect of shortening the circuit & the natural result of that a reduction in overtaking opportunities. Golf courses must ev...

Re: Should Ferrari have pitted a car to go for the fastest l

Pitting Bottas was not an option, he was never more than 25 seconds ahead of Hamilton and it was 24-25 seconds to pit. The gap was more like 21-22 seconds for the last 10 laps. He had no window. Okay. Watching the race, I was under the impression that there was a sufficient gap based on the comment...

Re: Point for fastest lap

If that did happen though you would look like total clowns. True, which is why I think if there's going to be a bonus for fastest lap, then it needs to be a big enough bonus to incentivize taking the risk of a pit stop, maybe as many as five bonus points. Then you just devalue were you actually fin...

Re: Should Ferrari have pitted a car to go for the fastest l

With how consistently successful many of the teams are with pits stops, I think it's definitely a something they should go for. I think Leclerc should have pitting, and I think Bottas should have pitted. I would have left Vettel out because it seemed like his car lost pace somehow mid-race, and lea...

Re: Possible 4 part qualifying in 2019.

Why don't we bring in a qualifying format whereby the drivers get 10 minutes to put in a banker lap. The clock then starts to count down, and every 2 minutes the slowest driver gets eliminated. Imagine the excitement.............. That sort of countdown elimination didn't work out that well the pre...

I hope not but there probably will be. Out of interest, why is that? Because very sadly attacks like this are not that rare globally - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_terrorist_incidents_in_March_2019 If you memorialise this one you have to memorialise all of them. Re: Possible 4 part qualifying in 2019.

I actually had this idea when they tried the new qualifying format recently. I think their goal is to have less dead time while the session clock is running. Typically, each car does at least two hot laps each session and spends a significant portion of time in the garage. That's (20x2)+(15x2)+(10x2...

Re: Point for fastest lap

And with that pit stop they could have had a gun failure or some other form if pit stop malady. We heard exactly that reasoning from Mercedes in declining to bring in Bottas even though he had a clear gap to Hamilton. They don't see earning one extra point worth putting the other 25 at risk. Howeve...

Re: Few Teams but High Level

F1 is better with 12 or 13 teams, more cars on the starting grid equals more action over the season, so please bring back these extra teams to fill out the grid. I think it could be better with more teams, but only if those teams are competitive, and only if there's a reason to care where the last ...

Re: Your Views on Refuelling During Races

I don't really like the idea. Sure it would add some drama, but it's not race drama. I would support lifting fuel capacity and fuel flow regulations, though. I'd also support tires that can (possibly) last the race distance and no mandatory pit stops. Let teams and drivers decide how much fuel they'...

Re: Do you support the current revenue distribution model?

I follow drivers more than I follow teams, but I do currently lean heavily toward Ferrari, and I don't support the current distribution. I have two problems with it: First, the constructor's championship bonus fund seems redundant, as it and the Column 2 payouts both reward performance. However, the...

I'd say "replacements", plural. I doubt they'll be able to find one person to fill his shoes completely before the end of the season.

If Qatar is any indication, it's going to be quite the exciting season, with four teams battling hard at the front. However, I think the result will be similar to last year, with MM pulling away from Dovi at the end.

1. Helmut Marko says Red Bull-Honda will win five races. How many do you think they will win? I'm a little skeptical of the Honda power being any better than Renault yet. I'll give them four. Re: Point for fastest lap

This is my first post, but I've been lurking a while, and I'm surprised how many members here seem so resistant to change. I read posts about how F1 is a sport of tradition, how back in the good old days points were only awarded to the top six drivers, and so on. One thing we must recognize first an...
