Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
The difference is that whilst moaning Verstappen drove the hell out of his car, won races in it and was so much better than his teammate at driving it he sometimes lapped him. That hasn't happened with Hamilton. Driver A teammates: Alonso, Kovalainen, Button, Rosberg, Bottas, Russell Driver B teamm...

Once again, if it was about prize money distribution, they could simply run the wcc under a different points scheme than the wdc.

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
The biggest irony is that Hamilton resembles Vettel a lot more than Verstappen does. All we hear are excuses about how “unpredictable” the Mercedes is, how “it doesn’t suit his driving style”, “the rear is unstable”, “the seat position is too far forward”, and “the car has a narrow operating window...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Against my better judgement I'm going to re enter this discussion as a few people have brought up a Vettel comparison... You could see Vettel was going to be "found out" from a mile off. He was barely better than Webber in 2009, 2010 and the first half of 2012 and there is zero evidence to suggest ...

Re: New points system
Thanks. I really do feel going back to 80s style racing, formats and all, would be going against the vision of Liberty and FOM (and possibly also the FIA) and possibly a lot of people would complain how boring it is watching an empty track for 40 minutes. Each to their own (and no judgement in that...

Re: The big 6 then the rest?
In my opinion Verstappen is currently obviously the best driver. I have little doubt. Fair enough if you disagree though. It's always impossible to know 100%. If one looks at the two burdens of proof from the US legal system -- preponderance of evidence (civil cases) and beyond a reasonable doubt (...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
You think Bottas would be a challenge for Verstappen? He might be closer in qualifying but I don't see him being ahead more than a couple of times in the year; definitely less so than he was against Lewis. Verstappen has very few off-weekends whereas it is a much more regular occurrence for Lewis. ...

Re: New points system
With the 9-6-4-3-2-1 system second was worth 66.6666r% of first. Now it's worth 72%. So there has been a change but not a particularly significant one. I will grant you the change from 1st to 3rd is larger. We are now moving quite far away from your original argument though. Your new argument makes...

Re: New points system
If the "problem" is to rank all teams adequately in the wcc, they could split the points system: keep the current system for the wdc, give points to everyone for the wcc.
However, I doubt that the FIA is driven by the desire to have the "right" team ranking.

Re: Silly Season 2025
Sainz would be incredibly stupid to take the Audi drive over an absolute certain WDC shot in a Red Bull in 2025 . If Audi don't get Sainz they'll likely pair 38 year old Hulkenberg with 36 year old Bottas. It's not like the Audi opportunity isn't going to come back around. So you believe Marko & Ho...

Re: The big 6 then the rest?
The hardest question to figure out right now is who the second best driver on the grid is. There really is no clear answer. I think it's probably Norris. Or Verstappen. ;) As of now I think Verstappen is clearly out front. Maybe, maybe not. A super dominant RB-team and a midfield teammate make that...

Re: Silly Season 2025
That's not exactly what's being said, the desire is merely for Verstappen to have a more competitive teammate, on today's grid I doubt that Perez makes the top 10. I am fascinated by how desperately some Verstappen fans want Perez to stay. Re: Silly Season 2025
Having a fast (but not too fast ;) ) teammate can help you in the WDC too - they take points away from your competitors. Particularly important when you have on weekends when you have the best car, and when you have a problem. Very true, but the discussion (forever here) seems to call for RB to hir...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Sainz over Perez is not so clear cut decision, especially how RB#2s struggled in the past. Most likely he will have a similar performance as a 'relaxed Perez' (vs the 'I can be a champion' Perez of last year) And, you are still ignoring things you don't like for your version of the history. RB repo...

Re: Silly Season 2025
I would say that Sainz's stock presently is higher, he's actually beating his teammate, also the fact he seems a lot closer to signing for Mercedes than Red Bull points to Perez being retained for next year. Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?
Is it reactionary... Leclerc has generally been a better driver than Sainz but only managed to convincingly beat him over a season once in three years. Given the poor start means that it so far looks like it won't change in the 4th year It's a reasonable question to ask. Leclerc has lost a crazy am...

Reactionary take due to poor form from Leclercs season opening. Before 2024 Ferraris woes have been Ferrari and I say this as a fan. They've lost more points for Leclerc than Leclerc has lost for Leclerc. Is it reactionary... Leclerc has generally been a better driver than Sainz but only managed to...

I don't think Leclerc has been Vettel at Aston Martin level disappointing, but I can see how some might think he hasn't quite looked a driver who could match or even beat Hamilton//Verstappen. He was doing a pretty good job of matching Verstappen back when he had the car to do it in early 2022. He ...
