Monaco is the most exciting race when it rains... my memory of it was that it used to rain a lot... But now I can't really remember much rain in the last umpteenth seasons.

My theory is they were sure it would rain, went for the mediums to build a gap for when everyone was forced onto intermediates.

Re: Tires Are Not Really The Issue

I think everyone wants to ignore the elephant in the room. Just get Pirelli to make the tyres even less durable, and reintroduce refueling. If you know you can run your car light without the risk of running out of fuel, your team may factor in an additional stop.

I posted my take on it in the Halo thread and have since seen a slowed down version of the video and my speculation was right. I saw it on FB but it was a link to a Sky video. I've come around to the halo, not that I was strongly against it. But I hate spin... and in my opinion, claiming the halo saved Leclerc is garbage spin. The halo might have saved Leclerc, but we've had incidents like this before with no great injury to the driver. An F1 car is quite rigid, and there...

Any professional F1 competing in a go-cart unsanctioned by his team would be a complete dumbass. Any F1 team that would sanction it should be kicked out of F1 for not being of the standard of an F1 constructor.

So, in the previous weeks I've been of the mind that RBR don't actually want to keep Ricciardo... they want to go back to Vettel-Webber situation, and like Ferrari and to some extent Mercedes, have a clear number one...and though they rate Ricciardo, they wanted to facilitate an exit. Not matching V...

The Vettel Bottas incident on the other hand was a racing incident. I like Vettel, and he is definitely one the elite F1 drivers. Anyone trying to argue Bottas was not in the wrong for the Ricciardo incident have no argument, as he revealed the darkened, stubborn mood that caused it, by subsequently resisting his team's order to give Ric the place Ric was entitled to pick up. It's a shame there was such venomous hate towards him when he was a driver. It's done. Ferrari just don't get it. Persevering with Raikkonen the so long has sealed their fate. For any chance they need their number two to harrass and harangue Hamilton. Get in front and force Lewis into potentially taking damage. But Raikkonen is just not up to the task.

I'm with the GHogweed about Ricciardo (currently) being overall the better driver :) Some here seem to be a bit revisionist also - in Austria - the penalty Max (rightly) got - did NOT cost him a podium. Here's a couple of axioms from other sports that might clear this up a bit. In cricket there are two types of "leaves", a "good leave" and a "bad leave". In F1 there are two types of passes, a "good pass" and a "bad pass". In football, if you slide tackle your opponent in the box, don't be surprise...
