Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix
A perfectly executed race plan, with consistent speed and safety, exactly what you would want from a driver. I think that if the qualifying lottery had favoured him, a race win might have been possible, depending on where his "wingman" would have been. (Sorry, I couldn't resist that one. :D ) Somet...

Kimi, Daniel and Stoffel. Just out of curiosity: why do you think that Räikkönen and Vandoorne were better than Gasly? I don't. But I get only three votes. Which is still more than F1 give us. I'm not so sure Kimi was caught napping as angrypirate seems to think. In all fairness, he was running clo...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 German Grand Prix
It seems the only way this won't go on is for all to agree that Vettel was a sitting duck at no point was Vettel told about Hamilton's lap times, but fans of Hamilton are here arguing that Vettel trying to match the time was what caused his error. The same set of people believe Bottas on the new ty...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 German Grand Prix
Hamilton was able to lap in traffic as fast as Vettel was lapping in clear air. Says it all really. Clearly capable of catching Vettel in those conditions and probably would have overtaken. But again if you assume Hamilton loses that time in traffic you need to take it off one of Vettel's previous ...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 German Grand Prix
The team order was given for fear of the 2 cars maybe coming together and let's not forget that Kimi and Verstappen were close behind, Bottas dropping back like he did was quite strange if he had the pace to be quicker, why have Kimi within DRS range? Exactly. Everyone seems to be overlooking the f...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 German Grand Prix
We see that a lot though with the driver out front just managing pace and getting back on it if they need to. Maybe it would have been possible, I would certainly expect Hamilton to be quicker but he would need to gain about a second per lap to make up the gap in time for him to have a go and that ...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 German Grand Prix
Driving on slicks in damp conditions Hamilton schooled everyone. On one lap he took 2 seconds out of everyone in front of him and was by far and away the fastest man on track. Had Vettel not gone off, he would have had Kimi very quickly with Bottas in his sights. The win may have been on anyway. It...

I think it's a tie between Bernd Mayländer, Toto Wolff and Jock Clear. I voted Jock.* *Oh, it appears I voted for his "strategy victim", Kimi. Seriously? Kimi struggled in the damp conditions and was schooled by Bottas and Hamilton. Hamilton was less than two seconds behind when the safety car came...

Vettel for a solid drive to victory and Lewis for a fantastic recovery drive. Re: Alonso and Vettel
Two reasons why I think Alonso probably dislikes Vettel: 1. Vettel is the reason why Alonso is not a 4 time world champion. 2. Vettel’s move to Ferrari has been a bigger success than Alonso’s move to McLaren. If Vettel wins a WDC with Ferrari, Alonso might just lose the plot. Maybe Alonso just thin...

Deduct them race points and they will stop releasing the cars. I watched a video yesterday saying that the Ferrari wheel nut is a flawed design, Haas use the same as Ferrari. That is 4 failures in 2 race weekends now. Affecting all their drivers, except Vettel. They're already deducted race points....

Hamilton was faultless all weekend - did everything he was asked of and just pure unlucky not to come away with the race win. Similarly Kimi clearly on top of his teammate.

There was/is frequently a very substantial net gain from pitting under a safety car if you do it straight away. Pitting under the safety car was banned for a time for exactly that reason. The result was a bit of a mess as I recall , because while it removed the random big advantage it introduced a ...

This is not about a speed - this is about a car free window on the track. Ultimately, what im trying to say is what speed is safe? You can kill a pedestrian at 30mph.... Only if the pedestrian walks in front of it. No F1 driver is going to lose control of his car at 30mph. Unless the track is block...

Re: F1 Car/Driver weights to be split from 2019
At the risk of sounding controversial, why do we need a weight limit in F1 anyway? All the chassis structures go through comprehensive crash testing which they must pass prior to being allowed on track so I cant see it being a safety issue. As far as I can see, its another area where the FIA have pr...

Stable regulations year after year will result in the field closing up as there are ever diminishing returns on R&D. Whenever there is a step change in the regulations we see the field open up massively.
