So being a signed deal and knowing Alonso's luck, I think its time to put money on Honda having power parity with Renault come the end of this season and then to be ahead of them come the first race of 2018

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2017 Italian Grand Prix
When ur nearest rival is 10+ seconds behind you and has had to slow up by 0.5sec a lap because he has broken his steering due to running off the track, you can afford not to drive at full wack. Which is exactly the reason why it's not worthy of a "Driver of the Day" award. He didn't drive badly, bu...

Ricciardo, easily. He was flawless in the race, and made his strategy work where I didn't think he could. Lewis is hard to gauge, but he wasn't significantly faster than Bottas on track. He might well have been coasting - I think he was, in fact - but I'm not going to give him DotD on that basis. I...

Would love a very simple rule for engines. Currently they are 100kgs of fuel per race (i believe) on top of all the other regs about engines. So lets simplify things - 90kgs of fuel per race. And thats it. Then in a few years time lets cut it to 80kgs, then 70kgs etc etc.

So it seems Honda are confident that they will overtake Renault by the end of the season: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/honda-engine-renault-target-939204/ If this is true, then that makes it unlikely that McLaren will be swapping Honda for Renault power, as they'd be in an even worse position...

James Allen's view, quote: "“ (Mercedes) Spa, Suzuka also with the long wheelbase, maybe Austin too. Ferrari will be particularly strong at Singapore, Brazil, Abu Dhabi” On the whole, the Merc is a faster car (not by much though) but the shorter wheel based Ferrari comes into its own at the twisty ...

Its likened to Monaco except on a track and Id be quite happy to see that snoozefest cancelled too (lets face it - its only still on the calendar due to its prestige!). The only time when there are interesting races at either of these tracks is when there is rain.

It should be a race ban, but since he's already been punished in this race, I don't see that that would now be appropriate. That video of the car at the launch actually makes the livery look worse. In some pictures it looks great so maybe it will look better on track. Problem with taking it early is that he'll miss out on the updates that Merc have in the pipeline (they have quite a few tokens left to spend). So how long until we see the car computer becoming voice activated? Mobile phones do it so dont see why they cant do it in the cars for most of the settings! That would free up real estate on the steering wheel and simplify the combination of buttons they would need to press.

I suppose the logical way to look at is is to ask how long it would take a car to pit to get the information, and make it that, plus X seconds. For instance, pit and return 17 seconds, plus 3 seconds for the tec to twiddle the knob and slap a post it in the cab for the driver to read= penalty of 20...

I think the rule that even the tiniest amount of overlap means that the lead driver should leave room for the following driver is a stupid rule. It's not practical in the real world.
