Re: Crowding off the track at the Italian Grand Prix

A penalty would have been justified for Charles but not producing a penalty is also understandable. Ultimately; any penalty that is seen as benefiting Hamilton or Mercedes will be unpopular and people will cry about the sport being ruined. That is what stayed the hand of the stewards regarding Char...

Albon should have beat the Renault's . Those 5secs penalty did not help. Max was only 15secs behind him but still I think he is doing much better job than Gasly so far Based on what? Re: Vettel and his Ferrari drive

Would Red Bull actually want him back though. Actually he has more chance at Mercedes , he is German after all and their downforce is pretty solid ;). Mercedes or a junior team who throw the most money at him. I think his chances at Mercedes are slim to none. A - He won't want to play #2 to Hamilto...

Re: Vettel and his Ferrari drive

Bring back Alonso. Indeed, I wouldn't have given Vettel another big 3-year contract in the first place at least not with options, he's done nothing at Ferrari to deserve such a reward. It was obvious to me Leclerc would put some manners on him and said so at the time. Ferrari have screwed up their ...

Re: 2019 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

Not just the braking area though, all parts of corners are governed by the same rules and the stewards let Sainz off the hook for a bigger squeeze off the track. I don't believe that's true, no penalty for Verstappen in Austria. But a penalty for Rosberg in Germany 2016 and K-Mag in Hungary 2017 at...

Re: Vettel and his Ferrari drive

I think Vettel will see out his contract but then he will be done at Ferrari. I have two reasons for thinking this: 1. Vettel has the second highest salary on the grid and you don't pay that kind of money to someone to be a #2 driver. Ferrari will be unable to justify keeping Vettel at the same pay ...

Re: 2019 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

This doesn't make a difference though as the rules state nothing about it needing to be in the braking area. ;) You could also say that one was into a chicane and the other one wasn't. See how easy that is to make up irrelevant differences. ;) If it's not in the rules why did the stewards issue Lec...

Re: 2019 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

Very underwhelming effort from him in those closing laps IMO. He had tires that were much fresher than either Leclerc or Hamilton and he was ...

Re: 2019 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

At the end of the day, hindsight suggests that Mercedes should never have tried for the undercut. They didn't need to. Ferrari had the faster car but worse tire life. So for Mercedes, stopping first played right into Ferrari's hands. Even had Hamilton pulled an undercut, Leclerc would have the strai...

What on earth was that!? I honestly blame Hulkenberg. He was the first man out and then he just chose to take the runoff at turn 1. That's what started this whole thing. Yes, the true racing line would be something like lane 5 sweeping into lane 1, (through small pieces of lane 4, 3 and 2), and then back out to lane 6 on the corner exit, (again through small pieces of lane 2, 3, 4 and 5), but therefore this means that lane 1 is indeed part of the true racing line f...
