Re: Ferrari testing 2014 engine in a LaFerrari?

Pretty sure the new F1 engine is the only turbo Ferrari have made in years, and you can clearly hear the waste-gate opening on the downshift. There is this from the suggestions on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO3lNwu6uhQ Ferrari have been hinting at a production V6 Turbo for a while. How...

Re: Ferrari testing 2014 engine in a LaFerrari?

Holy crap, there's definitely a turbo there, and the LaFerrari doesn't have any right? The LaFerrari has a naturally aspirated V12. If you pause it as the car goes past the camera slowly you can actually see that the air intakes have been adapted to something resembling an F1 layout; They've added ...

If the new engines sound like that I'm a happy camper.
People always go on about the good old days of the high pitched V12 wail. This sounds closer to that than the V8s to me.

After all, V6 is, like, half a V12 right? so if we have 22 of them.. :)

Re: Custom Driver Numbers To Make a Return

Sounds like a good move. There's something special about having iconic numbers in sports. The fact that just seeing a simple number on it's own in the right context can be evocative. I do think they need to accompany this with some sort of standardised way of making numbers more prominent though. I ...

It's the age old problem with F1. Button. I'm not sure what Rosberg is doing on this list. He was far slower than Hamilton and would have finished 15 seconds behind him had it not been for Hamilton's coming together with Bottas. Max Chilton warrants being on the list more than Rosberg. And your nomination warrants more of an explan...

Personally I'd love to see F1 go electric eventually, with no rules on how powerful you can make the motors. I want to see F1 cars being designed at the pinnacle of technology, not engines, tyres and aero parts which are deliberately designed to be inferior. F1 used to be the pinnacle of technology...

If I can only pick up to two drivers then I'll go for just Alonso.

Both McLaren's had a good race, but I don't think Button really outperformed Perez all thing considered.

That Ferrari had no right to be that close to the Red Bulls. Alonso won the battle for best of the rest by miles.

I have a feeling that, in addition to much of the above, Mallya quite likes the drama and publicity that comes with being one of the last teams to confirm.

It wouldn't surprise me if usually the deals were done well before the actual public conformation.

Alonso, because he is (imo) the most adaptable and intelligent (from a racing pov) driver on the grid. He's also the driver I'd back to "find a way" in a difficult situation.
