Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

Tou do realise that this impression is also based on circular logic. Bottas was not trounced by Hamilton, therefore he must be pretty good in a top car. There are other explanations possible of course that do not paint Bottas’ performances in such a great light. Hamilton is a known quantity that's ...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread

I thought this comment from Russell was very telling. Caught napping in other words. "Obviously a bit of a strange situation that happened last week. Totally caught by surprise. I was actually looking at the steering wheel, making a switch change in the straight, which, you know, we all do across t...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread

I take it you didn't bother to read the stewards' report on the matter? Why do you always hit me with some laborious admin work just to reveal that it was actually 100m before the braking zone not 200m as if it makes any difference to the point about braking unpredictably early or excessively for a...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

It's a circular argument anyway. Bottas was closer to Hamilton than Perez is to Verstappen. We don't know if that's due to Bottas doing better than Perez or if it's to Verstappen doing better than Hamilton. I suppose it could be both. Personally I think Bottas skill set makes him more effective in ...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread

I read that this morning, and was a bit surprised myself. Caught napping at breakfast, so to speak. I believe the Mercedes steering wheels have switches at the back, and he may have been operating those. But I don't see him operating a switch on the front of the steering wheel in the relevant on-bo...

I see. No I don't, but let's just leave it there. The real problem isn't whether Alonso faked a throttle problem or not, it is whether a dangerous situation existed, or a potentially dangerous situation. Perhaps even more pressing is the question what kind of penalty will be given now for truly dan...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

I think something that is being missed here just observing is the difficulty passing/following conparivetly between 2019 and 2022. There's a fair few races in 2022 where Max would have lost without the incredibly easy passes he could make in 2022 (e.g. Spa). In 2019 starting down the grid for whatev...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

Some may think that while others will realise that Red Bull are a far better team and Verstappen has a dominant car with no competition. So the same as Hamilton in 2019 and 2020? Verstappen has had a dominant car since Belgium 2022. That's 34 races. Verstappen has won 28 of them. He's failed to win...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

I don't think it's enough to make a difference. Depends on what you value in a driver. Broadly speaking, you can categorize driver performance in 3 separate scenarios. 1. How they perform in dominant conditions 2. How they perform in equal best car 3. How they perform in an inferior car I also put ...

I think they need to just come out and say if you mess about braking unnecessarily before a DRS detection zone it's a brake check and you'll be punished - ofcourse they would never follow up on it but it'd stop some of these stupid games.
