Re: HRT not allowed to race

Not letting them race is definitely the right call, both in terms of the regulations and a common sense point of view.

Re: Sky Sports F1 is broadcasting

Continue to be impressed by the Sky coverage. Found myself flicking between the various red button options - I'm almost overwhelmed by the choices. Right now I just wish I owned an iPad so I could use the companion app they keep bringing up. SSF1 feed on the TV and on-screen feeds on that would be p...

Right, let's see how badly this goes:

1] Vettel

3] Button
4] Webber
5] Rosberg
6] Alonso
7] Raikkonen
8] Schumacher
9] Massa
10] di Resta

Re: Sky Sports F1 is broadcasting

I've thoroughly enjoyed most aspects of the channel so far. Very encouraged by the start, although I wasn't one who bought into the idea that Sky's F1 coverage would be anything other than a positive. Of course, the race weekend itself will be the real litmus test, but the signs are good so far. Reg...

Re: Ferrari are just bluffing???

Unless they turn up at Melbourne with some significant developments, bolt them on the car and immediately go quick, it's hard to imagine they'll be anything better than the third fastest car. That's the best-case scenario. Anything better than that and they'll have pulled the wool over the eyes of a...

Re: Woman F1 driver

She's 32 and has an uninspiring career until this date. I don't want to say this is just Marussia looking for publicity, but I find it very hard to believe there weren't a ton of younger and faster drivers available.

Really glad to see you've brought this back again, Spec. As the 2011 Rookie of The Year Runner Up (I'm still waiting on that trophy, ;)) I'm looking forward to actually remembering to complete the whole season!

Will get my picks in sometime next week. Still on the fence about a few things.

I concur with those who have observed that the BBC have the better music, but actually prefer this as an opening video.

I'm eagerly anticipating seeing somebody take that footage and pairing it with The Chain.

I guess Luca Badoer was on holiday those days...

Seriously though, it sounds like this has all been a little blown out of proportion.

With a budget: Name: I'd look to Canada and see if I couldn't get Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment to bankroll the team, and name them MLSE Motorsports, or something similar. Drivers: We're working on a budget here, so I'm going to assume any current F1 driver would be out the question. I'd therefo...

Sorry but that cost system cannot be taken seriously. So if hypothetically Vergne would have replaced Webber for the 2012 season he would cost 258 points?? And Petrov gets only 5 cost because he moved to Caterham? I think it's as good a system as any. Do you think Vergne should have been free of ch...

Re: Team Fan or Driver Fan?

The last team I rooted for was Jordan, and that only started because something about the Damon Hill/Jordan partnership appealed to me. I think a certain amount of it was because I just liked the look of their cars, too. Solid reasoning, eh?! Nowadays, I'm a driver fan. Felipe Massa and Nico Hulkenbe...

Re: No Valencia GP this year?

I echo the sentiments of the majority (well, that's what it seemed like, anyway!) in this thread.

A race at most tracks other than Valencia > a race at Valencia > no race.

I suppose there is always a chance it could rain, although I can't imagine there's is ever too much rain in Valencia in June...

Re: Official Planet F1 Prediction Competition (kimilandia st

I actually remember the original version of this, simply because I'm 90% sure I won (or, at the very least, finished top 3). I seem to recall a surprising amount of people avoided picking either Brawn driver, even in spite of the fact they were dirt cheap. Ferrari/McLaren were attractive options an...

Re: What was it about F1 that hooked us in to love the sport

Honestly? I don't even know. I've been told that when I was a toddler, I loved cars. Playing with toy cars, watching them, going in them, whatever. Even at that time I would watch F1, although obviously I had very little comprehension of what it all meant, besides it involving cars going fast! As I'...

They seem to be comfortably behind Red Bull and McLaren. As others have said, in looks as if they have fallen away from the front two, which would make them vulnerable to Mercedes and possibly Lotus/Force India, if any other those teams have made a significant step forward (or perhaps even a small s...

Based on my first impression of it, and the listing posted earlier in this thread, it's undoubtedly going to be soaking up more of my spare time than I expected it would. Whether or not that continues over the season or not remains to be seen. Really hoping they regularly re-run classic races, or ev...

McLaren, and by a fair distance, as far as I'm concerned. I just can't stomach the broken nose cars, although if I had to pick the best amongst them, I'd probably say Toro Rosso or Lotus.

Re: Which midfield team will be the strongest in 2012? Updat

I'm going to stick with my initial impression and say Lotus are, again, just ahead of Force India. From a purely competitive point of view, it would be nice if a couple of the 'midfield' teams and Mercedes have all closed the gap to the front. Even if Red Bull/McLaren are still the two fastest cars,...
