Re: Sprint Qualifying - first impressions?

I enjoyed it once I realised it was effectively a single race spread over 2 days with qualifying having the same relevance as usual, just moved to Friday. The effective benefits being that the first part of the race isn't on race fuel or interrupted by early pitstops, cars can rejoin last if they g...

Re: Sprint Qualifying - first impressions?

Best I can say is it was mildly entertaining for the novelty value and I’m sure it was great for the fans at Silverstone. But I was left with the feeling of it being unnecessary, and I also thought there is more potential for things to go wrong than right i.e. it risks putting drivers outside positi...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix FP & Sprint Qualy/Race Thread

Hopefully this won't affect Norris' weekend too much: McLaren Racing can confirm that Lando Norris was involved in an incident, after the Euro 2020 final match at Wembley, during which the watch he was wearing was taken. Thankfully, Lando was unharmed but he is understandably shaken. The team is su...

Re: 2021 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread

Finding it almost unbelievable that anyone would think Norris, and subsequently Perez, deserved a penalty for the turn 4 offs. When trying to overtake around the outside you take the risk and often it doesn’t work, what is the driver on the inside expected to do - just stop and let them past. The o...

II’d be happy to vote for either George or Lando, but for me I think Lando edged it today because he continues to exceed all expectations by some margin, whereas George is excelling like we expect him to.

Very sad. I liked Max and all his controversial ways. America tends to make everything "bigger" so it's more spectacular, but I'm afraid the divides that were let growing (when not encouraged...) by the successive governments since Reagan are active in our European society, though, let's hope, not as deeply rooted (and we have no legal access to war g...

I know where you're coming from, and I do partially agree with you here. However, I have zero problem if "cancel culture" means we get rid of undeserving scumbags or races in dystopian dictatorships. Well it seems we have a new F1 brat that many will love to hate. I like Bottas, but if Russell is indeed going to be a large part of Merc's future then why f##k about - just get him in there.

IMO Domenicali usually comes across as quite balanced, level headed and a decent communicator so I've got no problem

For decades the higher echelons of F1 have appointed people who theoretically favor Ferrari, and it's not exactly done them much good :D

Media reports in the UK about the introduction of a 14 day quarantine period for people travelling to the UK, which could throw a spanner in the works of the plan to start in July. Living in Scotland with the crap weather you need to make the most of the meagre summers so I've always had a problem sitting in front of a TV watching F1 on a sunny afternoon so the more winter races the better as far as I'm concerned.
