Most likely it will happen in 2019. Not to mention teams themselves have admitted, it makes very little difference and they wont be affected much by removing it.KingVoid wrote:FIA need to ban any aero devices on the halo.

Re: Halo confirmed for 2018!
Did it save Leclerc today? If I recall it was designed to deflect a flying tyre, not an entire flying car. There's no definitive evidence that it made any difference, all we can see is that Alonso's car made some level of contact with it as it flew by. I stand by my previous points. I'm not opposed...

Re: Catch Fences, are there any better ideas?
Only thing i can think of that will not ruin it for the spectators at the track is have better designed walls (softer, more impact absorbing ) followed by a thick acrylic composite laminated curtain followed by the catch fencing as last failsafe. Thick laminated multi layer acrylic will still allow ...

Re: Who should Ferrari tap... Raikkonnen or Leclerc?
Kimi at the moment is driving better than he has in last 4 years. His form in recent races has been good but he is not going to win you championships if Vettel for some reason has bad run for one reason or another. They can keep him for another year or two if they want. At the beginning of this year...

Regardless of what has happened in his career and mistakes he made including leaving Ferrari which I think was the biggest mistake of his life, Alonso will still go down in F1 as one of the best ever. Anyone who thinks otherwise is blinded by their bias or hate. Period. I am still somewhat angry at ...

Only drivers with no other option will go there. I have no faith in Vandoorne, I know its tough to be teammate with and then compete against world class driver like Alonso, but still. I think people put too much emphasis on the car, if the remainder of the season is like the first part then the most important things will be driver/team errors, luck, reliability and car speed all quite equal in importantance. Good for Dan. He had to get out of RedBull. He might not win as much in 2019 or even 2020 but will be in great position to decide what he wants to do come 2021 negotiations. Dont really think the first one was a big deal. They made a mistake and race engineer owned up to it. Nothing wrong in that. But the second message felt little odd. But hey, who are we to feel good or bad about it? If they are cool with it, so be it. Its not like it makes any difference to us.

Kimi has looked much better this year, but at the same time his tendency to make mistakes when it really counts is still there. We saw that again in Canada. They should not use the chicane on the straight, it ruins the soul and flow of the racetrack. If Fuji had that long straight, why not Paul Ricard? Another hit in the spine with axe to the historic racetracks. Safety. After Turn 10 the runoff is there but its not long enough to not have that chicane...

Ferrari should also be leading in the WCC but they are a one car team unfortunately. At this stage, Kimi being on the team is a joke. I propose also give driver ability to send fart sounds to their team mates. So when someone yaps in their ears and you want none of it, you can push a button to play fart sounds. Every fart sound conversation automatically gets broadcasted on air.

I think 3 DRS zones proved counter productive this year. One way or other, the DRS benefit was neutralised for car behind because the car in front was getting DRS from the cars ahead as well as back-markers later in the race.

Re: 2018 Canadian Grand Prix Racing Thread
Great race for Ferrari and Vettel. But it was not a great racing at fast end of the grid.
Some good racing in mid field (though not a lot of overtaking) and Charles Leclerc deserves all the praise that he gets for that drive. Great result for Sauber.
Not great race, still miles better than Monaco.

Meh, Just scrap it. Give it to Formula E. Those are better suited to race at Monaco than Formula 1 cars. Seriously, just get rid of it from F1 calendar or bring back the non championship exhibition races and make sure Monaco is not part of F1 championship round. Thats the only way to fix the Monaco....
