And Daniel has had more
Failures where RBR was likely to score better points- even in Mexico he’d have likely got 3rd or perhaps 2nd -and 3rd at the US - whereas fewer retirements for Max lost him big points (but some obviously)

Re: Danny Ric at Mclaren?????
Not as simple as that ReservoirD - if McLaren have Renault engines for 2019, and RBR have Honda (as they won't have Renault, Mercedes or Ferrari apparently) - then it depends on how Honda develop through TR next year - who knows, perhaps it will be a TR world champ in 2018 and RBR with Honda the pla...

Re: Vintage F1 thread
Wow - I can vaguely remember a Shadow driven by Alan Jones - but really got into F1 when he was in Williams
Almost went to Monza in 1982 - but for some reason it fell through (in Italy as an exchange) - so never got to a live F1 race till 2004 Melbourne - with a few former members here as well

I just say to those arguing at the track limits rules - SANDTRAPS (many of these drivers would be OUT - multiple times a race) - and the comment about Austin - if it was grass, would Max have been there - err, absolutely no - or he'd have crashed into KR and either put both out or been penalised mor...

like a number of seasons - a few 'bad results' can change the season - just like Webber (or Alonso) could have won 2010 - the former with just one better result (which would have been deserved - but we also have some teams where we know that the equipment wasn't equal, the 'better engine' (the one t...

I think Nico would be doing better than Bottas (more reliable for one thing) but it wouldn't have changed much - I would have expected LH to still win but Nico to have provided more competition - but also more competition against Ferrari

So wish Dan had gone race distance - think he'd have got podium seeing he was pushing Kimi hard and probably had pace to pull away 'if' he'd managed to overtake. But we'll never know and 5 laps is too short to give him any votes (well from me anyway)

I think it would be fair to say that he could be the best. 'Could be" is the key part of that statement. The way hype builds around drivers is incredible and often fickle. Daniel Ricciardo was being branded the best driver on the grid by many in 2014. Now in the wake of Verstappen, the honey badger...

Re: FIA answer to Vettel breaking 22.5 Rule (steering wheel)
Look, I'm not the greatest Vettel fan here - I've even put my 2 cents into the collision being mainly Seb's fault (based on the video from Stroll's car) - but after the race has finished, when the car has to be craned (and can be safely without concern about racing vehicles) - honestly, I have to vo...

Re: vettel/stroll. what the he'll happened there.
Zoue - but Stroll was going slowly and 'slowly' changing line - whereas Vettel changed line like he was racing on an open track without anyone there - that's the issue - even if Stroll had moved to the extreme left, they'd still probably have connected - despite more than half a track clear for Vett...

Re: Boring Ranking Thread for F1 Racers
I think the definition of dominating needs defining - Max has generally beaten Dan by .1 of a second or less - or maybe .1 sec on ave (and the other way when it happens as well) I'd have thought that was pretty damn even - dominating for me is .3-.5 secs
What do others think?

Re: In my opinion Max very well may be the best driver
I don't really see evidence that Ricciardo would have probably overtaken Hamilton. He did lose a lot of time after his pitstop given how long he was kept out but he never got close to Hamilton, who also likely had pace in hand to defend against a real charge, albeit less pace in hand than Max. Inva...

mds - but Stroll CLEARLY didn't change line - Vettel did. The one who cut across was Vettel.
and Stroll had little option to move - whereas Vettel did - it's not racing, it's coming to the finish - why get all racy?

Re: In my opinion Max very well may be the best driver
I think Lotus has put the qualifying well into perspective - when there is .1 or less of a second difference - it's pretty much even. If we look at Malaysia - others have done the analysis - but on the wet side of the track (without illegal drying) - that makes it significantly more difficult for Da...

From limited vision at time of race - seemed to be Stroll's fault - but with new vision - it seems Vettell's - why did he cut across Stroll - who could do little other than perhaps take the tightest of lines - but on an in lap - why did he need to - and why didn't Seb just go a bit wider? Still bizz...

For me? Alonso . He's just relentless, consistently one of the best starters on the grid, one of the best wheel-to-wheel racers, best hard-chargers, best attackers, best defenders. He's the complete package. Aside from his 2007 shenanigans, I always saw this in him and admired him, but his 2012 sea...

Lewis is a great driver - but not IMO the greatest - that accolade is still with others. He's benefitted from having dominant cars, couldn't beat Nico last year (and while there was some bad luck for him, I just don't rate NR as highly as others who've driven over the last 20 years) While I have iss...
