Re: F1 qualifying ruined for me
No they weren't - stop being melodramatic. They went back maybe 1-2 postitions AT MOST. Kimi lost 3 places. Maybe Grosjean too - but I'd have to watch the start again for that. So one driver lost 3 places, maybe another one. That's quite different to asserting that "the drivers" (which reads as "al...

There's a HUGE HUGE part of this that most people don't seem to be aware of. Number 1: It was not done for grid position, but just to get Alonso on the clean side. Did anyone notice the drivers starting on the dirty side were going backwards 3-4 positions at the start??!??? No they weren't - stop b...

Re: F1 qualifying ruined for me
RBR wanted Webber to be between Vettel and Alonso. The RBR just hasn't been that reliable. Vettel had 2 alternator failures already, this is now Marks first. Vettel has had 2 water leak problems (Abu Dhabi, Austin) and a problem in Abu Dhabi qualifying. Ofcourse Mark has had more other problems, but...

While I would agree that Alonso is under more pressure than Vettel, it doesn't matter: I was comparing Vettel and Hamilton.
Furthermore, Alonso didn't achieve the maximum today so he's out of the question for this poll.

I'm going for Vettel, because he did what he had to do. Lewis had the better lap, but he's also free of any WDC-pressure. He has nothing to lose, making it 'easier' (if you will) to risk all in an all-or-nothing attempt. Vettel is, like Alonso, under extreme pressure and he's done a great job today...

It would only be a guaranteed advantage for the HRTs and maybe the Marussias and Caterhams to try this every race but I guess they don't because of the bad publicity it would bring. Don't forget about the 107% that's still in effect... A full-on race setup might hamper their chances to even be able...

I remember Schumacher testing a car of another team in roughly that timeframe.
I did, however, think it was another car (not a Ligier) and it was because they wanted his personal opinion about the car.

Fat Albert, I'd wholeheartedly agree - were it not for the fact Vettel was faster, Hamilton (I think?) was coming from behind and they were teammates. I'd say the answer to that question was yes. At least you're consistent :) As for Vettel, I've never heard him admit that he was at fault at Istanbul 2010, the most obvious time ive ever seen him be at fault. For the last three years the Red Bull has been designed and set up to qualify on the pole. It's a very good strategy, it has produced excellent results. But there's a big difference, isn't there? The main problem with changing the setup like that as I see it is. - Seb and Mark will not qualify as high with a lower downforce setup. With every row you go back the chance of being involved in a first lap incident go way up. The safest spot for a points finish is right at the front in the beginn...
