Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

Alonso, spygate, you don't think that it would make a good movie? Even as a Hamilton fan I don't think a movie would be that exciting to anyone but F1 fans and even then, it would be debatable. Though I guess people may have said that about Rush. I thoroughly enjoyed it but that's because I wasn't ...

Re: Canada 2019: Vettel Penalty Uberthread (merged)

Imagine trying to argue that a 4 x WDC driver didn't have a driver error because of oversteer but arguing that he doesn't know the effects of dirty air (whilst ignoring Hamilton was closer to Vettel than Vettel was to any back markers)

Re: 2019 French Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Someone on reddit went through the trouble of editing lots of pictures to get rid of the blue/red run offs and replace it with grass and gravel traps. Looks so much better. God knows how the drivers don't get distracted and take a wrong turn! (though I guess that's why they're paid the big bucks and...

Re: Will Bottas Bounce Back in 2019??

Big weekend for Valtteri, I feel. Needs to capture that bit of form he started the season with as Lewis is already 4 points clear of the DNF window. If Hamilton win this weekend with Bottas finishing anything worse than a further 7 points behind it will take a special purple patch for him to overcom...

Re: Vettel's post-Canada behaviour

It was pretty childish and not what you'd expect from a grown man (the sign swapping looks like it was taken straight out of primary school) but I wouldn't hold it against him. I never have an issue with a sportsman showing a bit of passion even if it does border on infantile. I've often defended Le...

Re: 2019 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread

Hamilton squeezed Ricciardo but then left space; however being squeezed towards the wall was enough for Daniel to back off). For me that is the real infraction. Watch it again. Ricciardo didn't back off because he was squeezed. He backed off because the line he had been left was wet and he had slic...

Re: Canada 2019: Vettel Penalty

Marc Priestly has done a good video on it. ncF4CA53K24 And as he has mentioned in the video and as I have been saying to people on reddit and other forms. The Stewards didn't rob us of a race. Hamilton didn't rob us of a race. Vettel making yet another mistake is what robbed us of a race. Yet someho...

Option 3 is the only sensible one for me. Seems harsh but it's the stewards sticking to the rules.

Re: 2019 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread

I'm not going to pretend like I wouldn't have been less tiddled off if the situation were reversed, but the penalty netting Mercedes yet another win only amplified how horrible a decision it was. But a penalty is a penalty. They should be thought of as mutually exclusive to the standings and previo...

Then add the altair rule, where if your season has been absolutely horrible, with no excitement avoid making decisions that result in the sport ending up with a black eye. Absolutely not. Re: 2019 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread

. The Autosport article does seem to show that (as expected) the Stewards knew what they were doing. The most hilarious aspect of this episode is that during the race there was severe criticism of the Sky commentary team as a bunch of no-hopers, BUT because they (wrongly) supported Vettel they sudd...

The stewards examined slow motion footage of Vettel's actions from the moment that he had regained control and started steering his car - and felt the evidence showed that he could have made different choices that would have been within the rules. The footage clearly captures Vettel correcting an o...

How they lack the pace, Ferrari are the favorites, red bull is really fast, how they don't know where Ferrari is getting its speed from, all up until Q2 when they "find" a way to either narrow the gap that existed to that point or outright beat Ferrari. Then there were the two races where Ferrari w...
