Re: Reports - Button out for 2016?
Nikki Lauda was just on the BBC coverage really putting Jenson over. It seems like the McLaren option came with a certain salary, and now McLaren want (need!) Jenson, Ron is backtracking on the salary promise. He openly asked for Ron to "give him the money" because the McLaren Honda will need the ex...

Re: Reports - Button out for 2016?
It'll be a sad way to exit if he does retire at the end of the year.
If I was Alonso, I'd be on at Ron to keep Jenson for 2016 - A rookie isn't going to be as much use to him in developing next year to be aiming at wins for 2017.

Why can't the season just end in Brazil. Abu Dhabi must have a deal to be the last GP. I hope it runs out soon. While I appreciate that it's quite cool to have the last GP against a sunset backdrop I would rather they just floodlight Interlagos. They do. The opening and closing GP's bid f...

Ron Dennis said that ALO has a watertight 3 year contract, so who is right now? Do you think Dennis will say in public Alonso can run away if he wants whenever he wants?, I don't think so, that's bad PR. But he would not also state something that is completely untrue, would it not provoke Alonso to...

I would still watch, but it would be impossible to remove the WDC, because there'd still be those keeping score online and in magazines, like we do with most wins, most podiums, team mate battles etc.

Re: Alonso hinting at move away from F1
He'll see out his two year contract to the end of 2016 no doubt. I would assume McLaren may want to keep him for 2017, whether he re-signs or not, will depend on what McLaren and Honda deliver in 2016. So in all honesty, short of some minor miracle, I reckon JB and FA will both retire from F1 next y...

I would be very surprised if McLaren stopped Jenson going. Surely there's performance clauses they've failed to meet on his side of the contract? Not just theirs! Also, hasn't Ron wanted MAG / VAN since he sacked Whitmarsh, but the Dubai investors insisted on Jenson? The option is with McLaren not ...

I'm sure they'll go with Ferrari, can't imagine Merc offering their engine to Adrian Newey (even though he's less hands on... He could help work wonders) though they've threatened their own engine before - wonder if that's a possibility.

Possibly, if Williams want him for two guaranteed years. If he stays with McLaren, then no. They'll more than likely ditch him after 2016.

I guess it depends on McLarens plans. Whether they see button as part of the team for 2017 as well or just 2016. In which case Williams could seem like an attractive option if they want 2 years for him, and they're not developing in frantic catch up mode.

It's kind of getting ridiculous now. On paper it seems like that would have been the best solution. But as a customer (which they would have been) they'd have been limited with development.
