Re: First race vs Season
Jep, I think it will be a battle between 3 drivers. Hamilton, Vettel and Bottas. The Ferrari might be the stronger car on raceday at the moment but I'm not sure they can develop the car as well as Mercedes over a season. Also Bottas impressed hugely both in qualy and the race so I think he can give...

Re: Mercedes vs Ferrari 2017
Do not underestimate the development force behind Mercedes. They endeavour to make a certain aspect of the car 99% better. This in turns plays in their hands and by far their development is far far better then the rest of the field, importantly than Ferrari. By the name you can see I am SF fan, how...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2017 Australian Grand Prix
I voted for Vettel.
However lets not get too carried away.
Had Ham not been held up by Max for those 3 or so laps, Vettel would have come out behind him and would have had to overtake Ham on track.
The Ferrari looks kinder on tyres and can possibly follow with less tyre degradation than the Mercs.

Raikkonen over 1 second per lap slower than Vettel, in clean air, with fresher tyres. No big deal, just collecting his salary without motivation, without words, without an effort. Seems to keep his fans happy, too. that is why i dont get why people like Kimi, he has been useless for a while now we ...

How on earth could a bunch of supposedly intelligent race minded professionals get the new formula so wrong. It was barely more than a procession with the only excitement provided by the pit teams. Unless they revise the formula urgently the sport is as good as finished. Because the objective was n...

The most impressive thing about Vettels 2015 was that he was ahead of Rosberg in the WDC at round 18 of 21. Yes that is impressive however the reason why is that Vettel thoroughly beat Kimi that year, vs Ham/Rosberg more evenly sharing the points. When Ferrari made the change to the type of suspens...

Re: Is Alonso going to quit?
I don't think he will quit.
However I only see 2 options for him unless McLaren start making regular podiums by the end of the season.
Renault, return to where he won his championships as they are emerging as a stronger team.
Or Merc. Toto seems to still rate Alonso as the best on the grid.

Hard to say but it looks like Renault have improved the most since 2016. I was fully expecting Williams to slide back down the order but look like they are around 4th. Red Bull probably have a few aero tricks up their sleeve they didn't want to show off until Melbourne. The fact that Red Bull and To...

I don't see why not.
The thing with Kimi is that he only seems to give the absolute maximum when he can win.
If Ferrari is in a spot to win consistently this year then I wouldn't count him out.

Guess we will find out soon enough but it really looks disappointing alongside the Mercedes, we could be in for an even more boring season than the last one. You missed some as far as damage is concerned: 1. I think Hamilton damaged Alonso's reputation. 2. I think Button damaged Hamilton's reputation (though I really don't agree that Alonso damaged Button's rep). 3. I would say that the most glaring omission is what Ricciardo did to Vettel's reputation....

Button is retired and not coming back, also it's unlikely that McLaren will go from being a donkey to the best car in a single season when the rules are probably not going to be changing? Bottas x 5 Jokes aside. (Most people seem to think he will be no match for Ham) Alonso: I think of any of the recent drivers, Alonso is most like Senna. Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari are no brainers - I'm not that convinced the new rules are the reset some have made them out to be. However, I've also gone out on a limb and put McLaren in there. Other sports pay appearance fees. Eg I remember a local golf tournament paying Tiger Woods 1 million to play and the first prize was $300k. Why would they do that? Get more eyeballs watching F1 is a start! Moving to pay TV means less people see the races, less fall in love with F1. The result less tv viewers and less people wanting to attend races. Sponsors get less value for money. A online premium HD streaming service should be set up charging $100 per year....

Very hard to know! The did use Merc engines in 2014! However they were reportedly down on hp as they had to use Esso fuel vs Merc using Petronas fuel. The Honda engine was apparently quite thirsty, so they would have had to use more fuel - more weight relative to other teams. And as they were down o...

Yes, although he didn't follow the rules, those blue flag rules really irritate me. Why not give the leader a challenge? A lot of the time, a leader hasn't had to overtake anybody. He just completed his 3rd full season in F1. If it was his first I would say he probably deserved another year. He did quite well in the 2nd half of the year vs Grosjean.
