Re: UK visas and immigration, are the English OK with it?
Depending on your time scales keep an eye on the Scottish referendum in September, in the event of a vote in favour of independence the 24 month student visa would be quickly reintroduced (and there are some fantastic universities and technical colleges up here). Scotland ain't going Indy. That's f...

I know I'll get shouted down for it, but in the strictest sense of never being beat by a team mate, Vettel did get beat in his sole race with Heidfeld. Are you sure? Record book shows Vettel finished 8 while Heidfeld retired. ;) I was until you pointed that out! Can't believe I've been harbou...

Re: Smallest average gap between 1st and 2nd over a GP?
Just before the eye incident the gap went up to 2.2 seconds then down to 0.7 seconds the following lap. What happened there? Because if it had been traffic then the gap would have gone down then up not up then down. Hamilton wasn't slowing down as much as Rosberg through the yellow flags that were ...

I think I would be right in saying, to sum it up very briefly, the majority of people would love you here, but the government wouldn't. I have a collection of GP/F1 cars to 1:43 scale, my topic being "The Most Competitive Car" each season. Not necessarily the ' fastest car', as the 1981 Renault was, but the car that the top few drivers could have won the title with, which in 1981 was the Williams Fw07C. I am trying to complete the ...

2010-2012 he had Hamilton helping him though, since Hamilton left he has been very much the team leader I was expecting that, but again, in 2013 McLaren made the decision to start from scratch (I'm sure you'll agree Button doesn't decide these things) and it was a flop, and as explained the develop...

Re: Would Jenson have troubled Lewis?
Hamilton was superior to Jenson 2010-2012, and imo Rosberg would have beaten him too from 2012 onwards. I think JB has slowed. POB, presumably your stats show a decline in Jenson's speed. Not sure how it varies in 2010-2012, but could any decline in for example, 2013, be due down to struggling to m...

Re: Would Jenson have troubled Lewis?
My point still holds re: Hungary. Lewis was cruising until it started to rain at 2/3 distance. Jenson is the rain man as I said in later post. Mclaren also pitted Lewis for tyres when he said he did not want to, but they had to gamble as they knew he was getting a drive through. Jenson in this year...

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2014/05/11/2014-spanish-grand-prix-lap-charts/ Massa was equal pace to Alonso before the stops. The gap was about 1.7 seconds. It was a risk, but they had to cover Massa. You may be right about the buffer, but I disagree about the initial stop. Alonso was nearly 2 seconds ahead of Massa before the stop and the gap had been growing steadily. Given how close Alonso was to Kimi what was risky for him was equally risky for the other. It still looks to me as though Alons...

I agree, and IMO I think it's to do with the amount of exposure and coverage Formula 1 (and in fact everything in general) gets nowadays. It's simple, the top two drivers are Hamilton and Alonso. Why? Because they are always fast regardless of the state of their car. Hamilton for example, pole positions in every season? The fact that vettel and iceman are struggling shows that as drivers they are lesser to Alonso and Hamilton Not to ...

Perhaps it's just bias in me shining through, but it always irks me somewhat that Button is overlooked in the discussion about the "top 4", and not simply because of his time paired against Hamilton. I think Alonso and Vettel are without a doubt a cut above the rest (Alonso very few people will disa...

You got it wrong. Most people hate Vettel because he has double standards. Vettel can't have it both ways. Either he always supports the orders or always disobeys them. Cant have it going both ways when it suits him. Oh and the Caterham had every right to overtake him. Sure made himself look like a...

I might be well wide of the mark here, but I don't think Rubens was as short for choices as some people might like to suggest. Montoya was signed at Williams for 2001 and 2002, so there was a seat available which might have allowed him an outside shot at the title in 2003? Granted Williams ditching ...

Great article, but it seems like the more time passes, the more Alonso's 2012 is overexaggerated. Fourth or even fifth best car?
