Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
So thats an article from 2015 when RB's golden run of 4 straight championships had recently come to an end & Merc had just won their 2nd championship. This was their time after 4 years of RB domination. Why would Merc want to share their technology after all they'd invested to finally get there ? L...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
Alright, then explain to us how Hamilton managed to get fully alongside again on the back straight. Simple. Verstappen takes the narrow entry into the chicane which compromises his exit. Hamilton also gets the slipstream along the back straight. Precisely. Because he wasn't driving the supposedly s...

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
I'm sure if you asked Hamilton if he'd rather race with a closer field and regs that enable easier overtaking versus the era of his actual dominance with a wider field but very hard to overtake, he'd take the 2022 regs any day. Yes, with 7 WDCs under his belt I’m sure he would. Back when he was win...

They violated the cap rules in a dozen areas. They declared lots of "innocent" stuff to be outside of the cap in order to spend more money on car development. A team as smart, as sharp, as perfect as RB misunderstands the rules in a dozen different areas? And incidentally always to their advantage?...

Dominant car. Slick team. Relentless driver.
As far as I can see, Verstappen has only been beaten on merit in one race. Saudi, his car failed in quali and he had to recover form 15th. Singapore just did not suit the RBs at all. Only in Baku did Perez genuinely appear to have the legs on his teammate.

The 'human error' element from AD21 may well be with respect to acepted practice, or the intent of the rules as written. However, the wording of the rules were of sufficient ambiguity that the events that did take place could be explained within these rules. My take on this is that's where a legal c...

Hamilton's streak >4 breaks: 2014 4 streak: Beaten on merit by Rosberg. 2014 5 streak: Beaten on merit by Rosberg. 2016 4 streak: Beaten on merit by Rosberg. 2016-17 4 str...

Re: The best season performance from any driver
I think it's sad some fans now see this as a 'normal' option. And in this specific case, risking your own car to risk your only chance of a win this season, seems very unwise to me. Perhaps Charles noted last year how Hamilton failed to retain his only chance of a race win in Brazil. It's not the "...

I believe he outqualified Norris 8-7 post-Spa. So yes I overlooked that but if we take ...

It is feasible that both the Red Bull has been arguably the most dominant car and that Max Verstappen has been the most relentless driver. I don't see why one should diminish the other.

Another great job from Leclerc in Q3. I didn’t think the Ferrari had anything close to front row pace throughout qualifying today. 2008 and 2021 are not comparable incidents at all. One involves an error made by an official (which, let's not forget, the team had every opportunity to contest but chose not to, as they perhaps rightly guessed they had no chance of winning that one) whereas the other involves a proven case of chea...

The thing with precedent is, that there is a first for everything. I did defend Masi, and continue to do so. But I disagree with many that resolving 2008 opens the door to "resolving" 2021, for the simple reason that the regulations allowed what Masi did. Whether Ecclestone was correct about the an...

2008 is a very weird year if look into the performance of the drivers. You could make the argument that the none of the best performing drivers that year finished in the top 3 of the final standings. For Massa was his best year though while for Raikkonen (his teammate) and Hamilton (his main rival)...

Lewis recently felt the need to describe him as someone who only won one WDC, inferring some status difference. I could elaborate but suffice to say that a true champion is graceful in defeat. Look at the bit I put in bold. They were far from friends by 2016. I also don't think Hamilton has been th...

I guess the tipping point, in respect to driver replacements, will come with retirements. Alonso and Hamilton stand out in terms of this (41 and 38 respectively) with Hulkenberg having just turned 35.

Was annulling the 2008 Singapore GP mandatory? I was under the impression that it was one of the options available (had it not been swept under the carpet at the time). In other words, even if this had been more transparent, it was not a given that the race would be declared void.
