Re: 2017 Belgian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Threa
Mercedes had an advantage in S1 and probably a slight one in S3. Ferrari may be a bit better in S2, but Hamilton really nailed it on that final lap. Vettel's S3 time seems to be slipstream assisted. I think the race could be quite competitive actually. Depends how much straight line speed advantage ...

Re: Mercedes v Ferrari Tracks
I think Ferrari is going to be strong at Abu Dhabi. A lot of slow >=90 degree corners and high track temperatures. Mercedes will make up some time on the long straight, but it might not be enough.

Re: 2017 Hungarian in-season Test
Nicholas Latifi in the Renault did 54 laps with a fastest lap of 1:20.302. I am not sure how things are regarding Kubica getting a Superlicence but if he needs to do 300km that works out at 70 laps so basically a race distance. Hopefully the car won't let him down. He's up to 37 laps with a best of...

Re: Team orders at Mercedes
Austria he won, but was slower in the 2nd stint. Mercedes knew he would be so they gave him a big tyre offset with Vettel (bottas had 8 lap fresher tyres) but was still caught with Vettel hounding him at the end. He was slower than Vettel, but I am not sure if he was slower than Hamilton. If he was...

The lead car had an issue that nobody knew how it would play out. Also, if Hamilton and Raikkonen had contact then he may have been able to get both of them. The best position to be was about 2 seconds behind Hamilton out of the hot air and ready to attack if i)Vettel slowed more and became a sitti...

Re: Team orders at Mercedes
I doubt that simply because - What the hell would he invite Verstappen on his tail for? Of all people. Makes no sense Bottas was asked to move over for his teammate, so his race was finished. Why would he continue to push like the team asked him to? It was in his best interest to slow down as much ...

Re: Team orders at Mercedes
If Bottas stuck with him then the argument for 5 laps could be made. But he was dropped like a stone by the top 3, coming after his bizarrely exaggerated way of running off line at Turn 1 to give the place to Hamilton and losing a chunk of time - Jolyon Palmer could give him lessons in how to do it...

Re: 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Bottas was saving his engine and wasn't bothered about the front 3 while risking Verstappen gettng so close that getting 3rd back was being made more difficult. From Mercedes' perspective this was a perfect strategy. They did not want Verstappen to re-enter the fight for podium positions. Bottas ha...

I'm sure Bottas wasn't getting in the DRS zone, Hamilton was 0.8 behind Bottas even in the twisty middle sector. Hamilton was clearly faster than Bottas and was in the DRS zone and then Bottas fell behind the front 3. Hamilton was at most slightly faster. He would never have gotten in front of Bott...

Incorrect. Hamilton said over the radio, let me by if I don't pull away I will let him back past (Hamilton had the slower tyre or so shouldn't have been quicker). Though, I would put this solely on Lewis alone, being hit by the lightening of sportsmanship. He had good reason not to do it. After Bottas let him pass, he apparently gave up and fell behind with Max closing on him. I doubt that he was ever really threatened by Max, though. Lewis is still on pace ...

I accounted for that, assuming that Hamilton would win four races to Bottas' three and finish 3rd twice to Bottas' once. Of course Mercedes could get behind their leading driver in the last few races, which would increase their chances.chetan_rao wrote: One fly in that WDC soup, Bottas.

This one should be easy sailing for SV with his rear gunner sitting between him and the Mercs. I can see SV-VB-KR-LH finishing the race in that order. In other news, McLaren seems to be improving, even if this is one of the least power-dependent tracks. I don't think so, sadly. They've scored points at Hungary in every year of the Honda period; it's clearly a track that hides their power deficit, so it's no surprise if they're 7th this year as we...

Kimi hasn't been on tier 1 money since 2010 when he got tier 1 money not to drive.
