Ferrari did what they could, and they're still arguably the better car.
Spa and Monza should be amazing.

Re: 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Kimi coming alive, Ferrari could/should give him a pass at attacking Bottas? I doubt he's any quicker than Vettel based on earlier in the race, problem is you need 1.5 - 2 seconds advantage. Kimi is lapping 1.4 quicker than Vettel right now. At least worth a go. Could swap them back later. Yeah cau...

Merc have to keep Bottas out. No sense making a stop unless the tires disintegrate completely. He'll come out close to Ricciardo.
Risk losing places on track rather than hand them over in the pits.

Re: 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Vettel needs to back off, the rear right is starting to blister. Caught between a rock and a hard place now. P1 is pretty much gone barring exceptional circumstances. Best to leave the race for P2 to later in the race. Bottas may yet have to pit, or will be more vulnerable at the end on marginal ti...

There were slo-mo shots of the front two, and Hamilton's rears look a bit worse than Vettel's given their relative age.

Vettel as fast or a tiny bit quicker than Hamilton on 30 lap old tires.
Kimi almost in DRS range of Bottas. Ferrari definitely the faster cars on track right now.

Vettel will need a good few laps now to get the gap down to about 5 seconds net.
Ultrasofts for his second stint and a small chance it could get tasty at the end.

Re: 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Grosjean made a sneaky pass on Alonso the exact moment the VSC was withdrawn. Good move though! Nailed the timing. Good race awareness if that was intentional. Alonso's radio message seemed to indicate he got the all-clear a fraction of a second later on his steering, and he was driving to VSC delta.

Re: 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
If it's a dry start tomorrow, Merc need to nail the start to lead into T1. They'll be fine, they've got Kimi as a buffer. Kimi's perfectly capable of a good start himself, and if Ferrari jump at least one Merc off the start, they could split strategies and push Merc's hand. A good chance of rain to...

Do you want to start on the Ultras tomorrow if you're Hamilton or do you want to risk using the Softs and hoping you don't lose track position? I have to imagine that he'll go with the Ultras but that opens up opportunities for the guys behind him to try some things strategically. Tires will be fas...

RB missed a chance with Ricciardo again. Too wet for inters, they could've put him on full wets earlier.
Lucky Kimi, spun but kept it on track. He's actually done pretty well so far. Was quickest on a damp track in Q1 before the track dried out for others.

Red Bull took a real gamble with Ricciardo's tires. Squeaked through by a tenth there, literally. What the hell was that all about? Riccardo, why softs??? Made absolutely no sense. Tires take longer to warm up and it’s mixed conditions I was questioning RB's decision, not chetan_rao's post Moddy I'...
