Re: Was Jarno Trulli ever a WDC conteder?
What do you guys think? I've not been following F1 for awhile and just watch season reviews of 04, 05 and a bit of 90s but while Jarno was in Renault back in 2004 he won a grand prix and out-qualified Alonso a few times. When he went to toyota, he scored a few podiums even at the end of the Toyota ...

Re: Lewis: I feel as though Alonso is a 3 time World Champio
My personal position is that the Hungary situation was what cost Alonso the WDC that year. He got a grid penalty so started lower and finished lower than he would have otherwise. Given the ultimate outcome of the WDC that very likely was points that would have meant he won the WDC. Of course that's...

Re: Lewis: I feel as though Alonso is a 3 time World Champio
This is more a slight on Vettel than it is praise for Alonso. Hamilton believes he is one of the true greats and if it was not for Vettel that would be more apparent. When Hamilton first started attacking Vettel it was very basic and petulant, easily seen through as a bad loser. The trouble is when ...

Re: What is going on with McLaren?
There are a lot of threads about the Hamilton-McLaren-Whitmarsh-Button relationships, but this is about the fact that I think McLaren have really declined as a team over the last few years. They were last consistently fighting right at the front in 2007 and 2008. Since then they have had flashes of...

Re: Fernando could have been smarter
Just what has Massa getting past Webber have anything to do in the grand plan of things? Alonso can't get past Webber when he is directly behind him? So I can only assume you want Massa to do something illegal to slow Webber down, then all go off for a nice sit down with the stewards losing even mor...

Re: Is it time to Question Mclaren motives
I have to say most of the problems at Mclaren are do to it's managment. It's been clear since Button joined that he was Whitmarsh's favourite driver but this talk of tinkering with Lewis's car is hard to swallow. From what I've read and understand one of the problems in the garage is the amount of ...

Re: Something fishy in Red Bulls sudden dominance?
Definitely the DRS. They have found a way to stall the rear wing and you only have to look at the increase in speed they have gained. Then multiply that by the fact you can use it at any time during qualy and you have the reason they are so fast in qualy. This will win them the championships. In th...

Re: Fernando could have been smarter
By letting Felipe go through, run a few quali laps to catch Mark and overtake him. Felipe could then slow down and look after the graining while Mark tries to attack. Webber would only be able to catch Felipe in the twistier section of the circuit and chasing in dirty wind would definitely cause hi...

Do Ferrari have Newey? The only reason Massa became an option again was because getting a driver for just one season is not that easy! Why for just one season? If the driver is good enough they can offer even up to 4 year contract. A bit of faith in Eddie Jordan gives you far more of the picture!

The Korean GP qualifying is a picture of Mclaren's dire situation in 2013 and beyond. The best driver is leaving the team, and they are left with the mediocre Button and the inexperienced Perez. I dont have anything against these two drivers (in fact I am happy they got Perez), I am just stating th...

I guess you mean Monza? I knew Suzuka and Singapore would be good tracks for the RB car but I didn't expect them to be this good in Korea. Even less did I expect them to be fastest in the speedtraps. Ferrari have got so many things right with their car it seems petty to lay all the blame at their feet should they fail to win the WDC, but that is right in my book. Alonso has been nigh on faultless and the race pace of the Ferrari has been good and shown to be the number 1 car in the wet. The weak...

This just is not going to happen. You have one CEO of Honda touring cars saying he would like to see Honda back in F1 from a personal point of view. It could just be a very difficult car to set up. The sweet spot could be like trying to hit a 50 pence piece with a dart from a mile away. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they get it very wrong. I don't think the drivers are to blame totally though. The Sauber for example seems like a muc...

The thing is due to his lack of pace due to poor setup that Lewis had to use more sets of new tyres in the first two quali sessions to reach Q3 thus compromising his first run in Q3 requiring him to use scrubs Th point to take is that he accepted the blame for the setup call so the fault lies with ...

Ferrari don't want to rock the boat until the WDC is decided. Massa could be very important in how that happens in these last 6 races. Demoralise the guy now and you will get very little from him. Once the WDC is decided you will get the true picture very quickly, what ever that is.

I do agree, but if Lewis had his head about him he would know Maldanado is trouble and you have to give him a little more space than the other drivers. All aero dynamics we see in F1 (or indeed all motorised sports afaik) implicitly include having as smooth a surface as possible. In a way it makes sense, wind tunnels demonstrate the lower drag without question. However, there are many factors to consider in what is the overall most effective packa...
