Re: 2014 USGP Race thread

Naughty naughty Yep, that was bad. What happened ? I pretended I thought Zaar's frustration at Sauber's exit had to do with their hiring Caterham cast-off Marcus Ericsson for next year. As if that weren't bad enough, I then attempted a joke conflating 'Drs' (DRS) with 'Profs' (professors). ...

Where does CotA rank among the established greats?

The more I see of this place, the more I'm impressed by it. It's a great venue, and a great track. But ought that be a casual turn of phrase, or can Circuit of the Americas lay claim to genuine greatness? I think perhaps it can. The flowing nature of a high-speed track; the varied challenges it thro...

It's all head games. The track in Texas is very flowing and requires precision. And in qualifying Rosberg dominated, laying down a killer lap end of Q2 and the final one in Q3. Anyone who witnessed those laps saw absolute precision, timing, and zero mistakes. No matter how good you are (as in the c...

What has everybody got against street circuits? A street circuit which provides for high speeds and overtaking opportunities is a wonderful thing. Even Monaco, which doesn't, is. Plenty of purpose-built tracks make for processional races, remember. Even the Spas and the Suzukas throw up dull grands ...

Why does there have to be any silver at all? And what sort of orange is that? I don't know, why aren't McLarens green? It's a British team, after all. Didn't 1952 Ferrari won all races, expect Indy, where Ferrari used different car? In 1953 it also dominated. And 1950 was a clean sweep for Alfa Romeo with Fangio and eventual WDC Farina each taking three wins apiece. So you found a winner. As was the case throughout the 1950s, the inaugu...
