Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?
Yet in Singapore he was a wopping 3 seconds slower than his opening final stint lap. Considering he is always quicker unless the 2 extreme situations before. That means he was up to 4 seconds off his usual opening lap time. Just like everyone else. Singapore is very demanding on the tyres. There's ...

Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?
In the first stint Vettel pulled away from Alonso and Ricciardo easily. In the 2nd stint Vettel fitted used tyres to save his newer supersofts for later on the race (that's why Alonso caught up). In the final stint Vettel was on tyres 2 laps older than Ricciardo's which is worth over 2 tenths per la...

Re: Hamilton-Rosberg Belgium 2014 Incident Thread (renamed)
I'm no Lewis fan, but i'm surprised Rosberg wasn't penalised. His terrible driving wrecked another car. A bit like Grosean wrecking everyone at spa a few years ago, or crashing into Webber at Suzuka. Maybe not deliberate but causing a crash is causing a crash so Rosberg should have received a drive ...

Re: Lotterer: LMP1 Audi can corner quicker than Caterham F1
I reckon the extra 200+kg of weight on LMP1 cars slows them down more than the tyres. Might be a different story if f1 tyres still had 2010 or 2006 levels of grip. The 2014 Pirelli's are conservative, value grade and there primary focus is to avoid exploding, not take corners fast.

Re: The Official NICO ROSBERG thread
1st place? 2nd place? It's all irrelevant. All that matters is where the Merc drivers finish in relation to each other.
The only story that matters is Rosberg could not manage to overtake Hamilton on the last lap with a 3 second per lap advantage.

Blame Pirelli. They have gone super conservative with the tyres this year to avoid embarrassments. If they focused more on performance the 2014 lap times would be fine.

No way it was Vettel, he just drove a fast car too where it belonged.3 stops was the quicker strategy and if Alonso had clean air he would of beat Vettel. Hamilton by a mile, withstood tremendous pressure and a car that wasnt to his liking. Due to having no speed on the straights Vettel still had to...

It's potentially one of the most damaging rules to the sport ever. Rosberg would feel embarassed rather than proud to win in that manner. The WDC would become severly devalued.

He will smash the record for the biggest points lead lost in the final race. After a fantastic season outperforming Rosberg at all the lengedary f1 circuits Hamilton's 49 point lead will be wiped out due to a mechanical failure at Abu Dhabi.

I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with this. If Webber said this you would all be saying "respect the man for taking a stand". Horner reckons they are losing 1 second per lap on the straights. If that's with an "unfair advantage" then they Redbull need to start worrying about terminating their 2015 contract with Renault, not 1 result of what will be an irrelivant season for them.

Albert Park is a pretty low top speed track so the cars were never going to reach anywhere near their top speed. We'll have to wait until the long straight at China for some meaningful numbers. From what i have seen so far it looks like Williams have went with much shorter gears than Mercedes and Mc...

My gut feeling is that RedBull and Ferrari have race winning chassis, but the engines are holding them back. Re: Alonso: "Red Bull/Vettel domination due to tire changes"
Alonso finished 40 seconds ahead of Vettel at Spain, and now he's finishing 40 seconds behind. A lot of that time is surely down to the tyres, however on paper Ferrari should have had the fastest car in the race at Silverstone. Either the other teams made a huge step forward or Ferrari put downgrade...

I think di Resta is slightly better overall, so for now Force India should keep him as a baseline. I don't really see the point in them signing Sutil. To be honest i highly doubt Vettel had KERS. It seemed to me like he was trying very hard not to toot his own horn in the press conference, maybe in an effort not to undermine Webber's pole position. He was very reluctant to admit to any driving mistakes even though he lost 0.4s through sector 2. A ...

Wrong Hulkenberg was always ahead. With this decision the stewards are basically giving the leading car 3 options. A) Turn in and be spun, B) Lift off and wave the guy through, C) be penalised. In my opinion none of these are acceptable. If the driver behind can't get his car fully alongside he is n...
