Re: Lotus: Major Financial Problems
I heard about the situation in Spa, but I didn't know that they were having trouble again in Japan. The team definitely appears to be in a financial pickle these days.

Yeah, not much action. Hopefully the weather will have cleared somewhat by FP2.

Re: Red Bull Ferrari.
If it's a question of Red Bull being supplied by Mercedes or being supplied by Ferrari, then it almost certainly would be better for Ferrari if they're the ones doing the supplying. Mercedes won't give Red Bull an engine, though, so it's more a question of whether Ferrari will supply them or rather...

Re: More Worrying Signs from Mercedes
Mercedes have an excellent car this year, but even it isn't perfect. There was almost bound to be one track on the calendar that they weren't going to do well at. I don't think either Ferrari or Red Bull has actually caught up to Mercedes, although they have certainly both made progress. Since they ...

Re: Who will finish 2nd in the standings?
It may still be a bit of a long shot, but I'm going with Vettel. I don't believe that the Ferrari has managed to actually exceed the Mercedes -- Singapore was almost certainly a fluke, and down to the characteristics of the track -- but they may well have managed to get close enough that Vettel will...

Re: Your Stance on the Latest RBR Quit Threat
Red Bull's ego has clearly gone through the roof, and it's obnoxious how much they complain when experiencing one bad season. The way they've been acting both towards Renault and towards their future possible engine suppliers is not cool. I understand them not wanting an uncompetetive engine, and no...

Re: What happened to Allmighty Mercs?
Chances are, Singapore was simply a track that didn't suit the car and they were unable to get the most out of the tyres there -- whereas Ferrari and Red Bull were. If Mercedes continues to experience troubles at Suzuka, then I'll wonder about it, but unless that happens I see no reason to assume it...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2015 Singapore Grand Prix
I voted for Vettel and Ricciardo. They were both extremely quick, trading fastest laps back and forth for a time, and without the safety cars would've had a good fight at the front. Others put in some good performances, but not as impressive as those two.

Re: Reports - Button out for 2016?
Unfortunate, if true. I think he deserves another season with an actually competetive car, rather than going out after a season like this. Of course, there's always the lurking chance that the Honda engine won't have improved sufficiently by next year for that to be the case, and if that's so, this ...

Re: Ferrari Making a Mistake?
To put it another way, there are currently three drivers on the grid who are head and shoulders above most of the others, and Ferrari already has one of them. They had one of the others and he left, and the third is going to stay happy where he is at least until the Mercedes stops being the top car ...

Interesting. Manor becoming an actually competetive team in 2016 would be good to see -- this should at least spice things up at the back of the grid.

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
Kind of tiddled off at Jordan for not letting Kimi finish his sentance at the podium interview (and also for calling him a liar...). Yeah, that was annoying. That was clearly a joke rather than a lie, and cutting people you're interviewing off is just not good form unless they are running on way to...

Re: Magnussen or Vandoorne?
Assuming Button is indeed out next year for whatever reason, Vandoorne seems like a solidly better choice at this point. Not that Magnussen is bad -- he deserves an F1 seat as much as some who have one right now -- but he hasn't truly impressed, and thus far Vandoorne has. No reason for them to sett...

Re: Michelin promises F1 tyres that will make drivers 'happy
Sounds good, certainly. I'd like to see them come back in 2017 (or sooner, although that's not on the table) -- assuming that the tyre regulations would be changing as well, otherwise I doubt there would actually be much of a difference. The enforced degradation and so forth are the problems much mo...

Re: Ferrari Making a Mistake?
At least at this point, I think they would have been unwise to replace him. Despite quite a lot of bad luck, he's still (albeit barely) holding onto fourth in the championship -- but more importantly, there is nobody available to replace him who would have been at all likely to do better. Especially...

Re: Why are WEC cars so ugly?
Beautiful isn't the word for them, but they look something like a cross between a fighter jet, a car, and a spaceship -- and I can respect that. There's certainly something to be said for them. I rather like them, actually. There's a certain predatory aspect to them, particularly in profile, and I a...

Re: Red Bull Ferrari.
It does certainly make more sense for Ferrari to supply Red Bull with an engine if Newey is no longer going to be in the picture, but I still think it's a bit of a gamble. It would keep another competetive team in the sport, which is good -- but while that's good for us, I doubt that's Ferrari's mot...

Re: 2015 Singapore Grand Prix Free Practice Thread
I'll be surprised if we don't see Mercedes pulling ahead again come Saturday, but so far the front of the grid is shaping up to be interestingly competitive. We should have some good fights between Ferrari and Red Bull, even if it turns out to be for the lowest step of the podium (which I expect wil...

Re: Singapore - Will McLaren last the distance?
It's a long race, and the likelyhood is that at least one of them will retire, so I'm guessing that both will -- one of them fairly early on, the other near the end of the race. I hope to be proven wrong, though -- we'll see! If one of them does manage to go the distance, I think they've got a decen...

Hey all! Figure it makes sense to introduce myself before I dive in and start posting. I'm a fairly new F1 fan from the US (or possibly "very new", depending on your scale of such things), although that story would most likely have been different if I'd had access to F1 on the TV when I was growing ...
