Re: 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread
The plan for Bottas would be to maintain lead & control the race to back Max till the time Hamilton closes in. The weather is hotter so I wonder if Mercedes would struggle. Came here to see if anyone had commented on the temperature. There was talk that cooler temps helped Merc so perhaps Red Bull ...

Re: Brazil 2021 - Sprint Qualifiers of the Day
It’s two from Hamilton, Bottas and Sainz for me. I’d probably go Hamilton and Sainz - I felt both had to do a bit more to get their position than Bottas (who still did a great job, he just didn’t have to do much to keep Verstappen behind)

Re: 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix FP & Sprint Qualy/Race Thread
Wonder if Mercedes would consider changing more parts on Hamilton's car? Won't make a big difference to his miserable weekend so far. It would make his car powerful & stealthy for the next 3 races though. If he finishes outside the top 10 in the sprint (outside top 16 for race), its a no brainer to...

So, the FIA have the Merc rear wing and haven't given it back to Merc to use in FP3. They have given them permission to fit another one though! I love the FIA! Re: 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix FP & Sprint Qualy/Race Thread
Max touching the Merc is probably the only thing holding this up. It's a pretty simple test to measure the gap in the rear wing so it's easy to prove, one way or another. Presumably Mercedes need to adjust the opening of Hamilton’s rear wing flap to comply with the regulations in the sprint and the race.
Does anyone know if doing that would breach parc ferme regulations?

Assume any penalty for Verstappen will be non-sporting but I’m guessing Mercedes are using that to try and avoid any penalty for Hamilton.

Re: 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix FP & Sprint Qualy/Race Thread
if his dsq then what would be the point to participate in the sprint qualy if his going to start last there and his still going get 5 place grid drop for the race. Because if he can get to about 10th then he’d start 15th instead of 20th on Sunday. He’d probably be able to get higher than 10th too.

I guess Mercedes know they have to take the new ICE at some point and the next two tracks could throw some curveballs because they’re new, so best not to do it there and they won’t want to do it in Abu Dhabi. Also, if they’re at the point where the last engine wasn’t going to make it through the wee...

Didn’t expect that coming into the weekend. Apparently Shovlin said before the weekend that if it was cooler then it would help Mercedes against Red Bull and it is pretty cool right now.
Anyway a sprint weekend usually means a Hamilton and Verstappen crash and they share the front row tomorrow…
