Re: Criticism of Lance Stroll

Just out of curiosity, how much is Stroll paying for the seat at Williams? Has to be alot! He'd want to be paying enough to off-set the loss of prize money as Williams drops down the constructors championship. I heard between $30M-$35M. I actually read it was 80 million from multiple sources. Heres...

Re: Renault & Palmer

I dont think Alonso will gain much with this move. From a midfield underpowered car to another a midfield underpowered car. You have to think about the bigger picture. Do you really think that with Hamilton and Vettel both performing at a high level (and both younger than Alonso) there will be an a...

Re: Renault & Palmer

Agree on all points above. The question though remains; how much longer do they give him? And who? Palmer's problems are compounded by the fact that the less he performs and fails to pick up points in a tight mid field battle, the more likely Renault will throw all the new upgrades on Hulks car to m...

Renault & Palmer

I Think its quite obvious that Palmer
Is costing Renault in the mid-field fight.

If you guys were in charge what would you do?
Give him the rest of the season?
A few more races?

Personally I'd be ringing JEV and giving Palmer 3-5 more races maximum.

Am I being to cynical?

I'm a full hour early. So I thought I'd give everyone a run down on my weekend plans. Looking to watch fp1 from turns 3 and 4... while not the slowest corner on the track its a heavy braking zone coming out of the second DRS zone. Im hopingto get a goid indication of how the cars handle under brakin...

Re: The Official Williams F1 thread

I'm guessing it'll all come out in the wash... but I think whoever suggested Williams deal with merc supplying them the latest engine upgrades is probably on the mark. Considering the Williams chassis this season doesn't seem to be running as many high down force bits and pieces as other teams I ca...

Re: 2017 Pre-Season Testing Thread

I reckon Ferrari are the goods this year, I know in the past they like to be time sheet hero's in pre-season, but I think the first 6 races they'll push Mercedes more than anyone else has in the past three years; they'll at least be in the hunt for genuinely upsetting Merc. I then think Merc will ge...

Re: 2017: Call it now..

Interesting to see quite a few people backing redbull. I think Ferrari have improved alot, but might be pushing a bit during pre-season as they seem to care alot more about how the team is perceived. I think Merc are taking it easy. Not sand bagging but just taking it easy. As for RB I think they we...

Both the redbull and the Williams cars are very simplistic. And as a Williams fan im hoping it's the way to go.

Re: Williams FW40 Unveiled!

I like it, I think it looks clean and sleek. So far compared to the other cars, the Williams and the Merc both look really slippery through the air. I get the impression Williams went back to the drawing board and built on the fundamentals of their 2014/2015 cars noticeably lower drag qualities. Rat...

Re: Renault R.S. 17 Unveiled!

The colorscheme is nice. The sharkfin is allright, but I've never been a fan of those. I think the cars look very similar to the previous ones apart from looking a bit lower. I though they would look alot wider but they don't, a bit perhaps but they still look very long and narrow. Sure it's an imp...

Re: Cars going off track - the solution..

I'd be happy to see the sausage curbs similar to what they had at the red bull ring; maybe a bit smaller. put them 3 quarters of a cars width from the edge of the white line. Might give drivers enough room to recover if they are pushed of the track but punishes full blown corner cutting. Not sure if...

Re: Possible Renault upgrade for Singapore?

Yeah, I think the 2017 engine is fundamental design change so there is no point bolting bit and pieces on the current one if they are going to bin the design at the end of the year. Re update this weekend, Max had the update running in Friday practise. According to Horner, Dan is changing his engin...

I think the idea is a joke...... I suggest the drivers have to jog/sprint a lap with an egg and spoon o then jump into their cars before the start of quali. they then complete a tyre saving lap, followed by a fuel saving lap.... after which the 10 fastest drivers who saved the most compete in a roun...

I was more so meaning in terms of performance, I understand that they arn't planning a performance upgrade (token spend) until Russia, just very late in the season, basically from the start of the season Renault conceded the season as a write off... So I'm not sure if its been discussed yet or in Another thread, but I've got a bit of a tinfoil theory on Renault. I'd like to see Renault return as a works team, I'd also liek to see RBR switch to the Merc engine, but i'd love nothing more than for that to happen and for it to turn out Renault get their sh*t together a produce a competitive engine, it would be worth it just to see the look on Christian Horner's...
