Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

There is a 100% chance Mercedes thought the race would end under safety car when they decided to stay out. Mercedes hoped the race would end under a SC. It really was 50/50 really. Nobody has any idea how long a SC will last. But the whole world knew, if the race restarted then Max was champion. If...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

You said you could not choose between the options. The first 2 options are within the rules and without a human era. The third is not and a human error occurred in implementing the rules. So you are now saying, you would have preferred option 1 and 2 that made Hamilton champion? You do not like tha...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

yes your logic. Over the last lap VER was seconds faster than Hamilton yet here you are with your nonsense, that Hamilton's car was faster, because you picked a very short time period where he was because of specific circumstances. They kept out Hamilton because they had track position and lapped c...

It’s pretty clear as he/she keeps saying look at the stewards report for Mercedes appeal to try and confirm AD21 was all correct but when the stewards blame Verstappen for an incident he disregards the stewards verdict because it doesn’t line up with his/her opinion. There's no need for he/she, I'm...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

By your logic any car can be picked and said its faster than any other car, you just must choose a good time sequence, fex. they arrive at a corner, the car ahead brakes earlier boom ! 2nd one goes faster!!! My logic? Have you forgotten on what basis Hamilton's engineer made his choice to keep his ...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

Alright, then explain to us how Hamilton managed to get fully alongside again on the back straight. Simple. Verstappen takes the narrow entry into the chicane which compromises his exit. Hamilton also gets the slipstream along the back straight. Precisely. Because he wasn't driving the supposedly s...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

Haha, this is why I did not read the report. Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

Did I say anything about fairness? I don’t think I did? But it is better to look at the facts. What Masi did was not against the regulations, the stewards dismissed the protest of Mercedes and Mercedes chose to drop its appeal. That leads to the conclusion that Masi’s removal as race director was a...

Does anybody have the answer to what I asked?

What was given as the official reason for handpicking just the cars between Hamilton and Verstappen and not allowing the others to unlap themselves?

I’ve have heard people say Masi did not break a rule in doing that, but why did he do it?

Re: The best season performance from any driver

You don't seem to understand what I mean. By turning into a car alongside of you, even if you are supposed to "have that corner", even if it is not your fault, you lose that potential race win anyway. What good is superior insight, if you're not using it? I know the stewards declared Verstappen to ...

Senna allegedly had a puncture at Monaco 88. The left rear in punctured in the aftermath but it never went near the barrier. He also got that 50 second lead because Prost was stuck behind a Ferrari. Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

His post race Eiffel comments don’t look good against AD. Him stating the rules required him to allow all 10/11 lapped cars through. That one was the fact that we had to, there's a requirement in the sporting regulations, to wave all lapped cars past," Masi said. "I think from that point, it was pos...

Re: The best season performance from any driver

I really hate the culture of measuring top drivers by simply totting up the number of mistakes made and basing a decision seemingly solely on that. Yes, it's a factor but it shouldn't be the only factor. Senna made a mistake in Monaco during a season where he was roasting the guy, who everyone thou...

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era

2023 is not like 2002 for me. Ferrari had a 1-2 in 8 of 12 two car finishes. Ten double podiums from twelve two car finishes. Rubens would have won nearly every race he finished without MS there. No comparison to Perez this year. 2023 is more like 2013 and 2011. It is highly unusual for a dominant ...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.

The 'human error' element from AD21 may well be with respect to acepted practice, or the intent of the rules as written. However, the wording of the rules were of sufficient ambiguity that the events that did take place could be explained within these rules. My take on this is that's where a legal ...

Montoya took a bunch of poles in 2002 too. Even Ferrari this year have a few poles, no? 6 poles in the last 10 races. The benefit of hindsight? Red Bull won 7 of the first 9 races that season. I think it's sad some fans now see this as a 'normal' option. And in this specific case, risking your own car to risk your only chance of a win this season, seems very unwise to me. Perhaps Charles noted last year how Hamilton failed to retain his only chance of a race win in Brazil. It's not the "...

Yes, that’s my point. Number 1 drivers get allocated the best and more resources. It’s the logical choice but at some teams it is more so than others. Benetton and Schumacher being the most extreme case. Red Bull also have a history of a weak number 2. They have won 7 drivers titles and 7 construct...

There seems to be an idea floating around that Mercedes was terrible operationally, and that is why Hamilton in 2019 and 2020 did not achieve what Verstappen has achieved in 2022 and 2023, so let’s go back and look at every race Hamilton did not win in those years to see how true this is. I'm not entirely convinced by that; I think Bottas is definitely a better qualifier, and Perez the better racer. People seem to have forgotten just how timid Bottas is when it comes to wheel-to-twheel racing. I would probably have agreed with this at one point, but Perez lately seems to have comple...

I think history will judge Sainz kindly. Verstappen, Norris and Leclerc as team mates and done well against all 3, despite never really shining bright. The most interesting part of the race was Leclerc trying to get Ferrari 2nd in the WCC. He nearly did it. He just needed a live delta on his dash to Perez and keep it at around 4.8 seconds out the last turn. Or maybe his race engineer updating him? Ferrari had nothing to lose. I think he could have ...
