Re: FIA Statement regarding Abu Dhabi
FIA clearly in damage limitation mode....if this were to go to court, I am actually very interested to see how they defend themselves without doing more harm. This is every bit as fascinating as the F1 season we've all just witnessed. Completely new territory.

Re: Should merc take the case to court
One thing that many are fully aware of and in general agreement with on this forum is that a safety car has the ability to influence the outcome of a race to favor one competitor over another. It is for that very reason the rules around it should be written as a clear procedure so that it can be app...

Re: Should merc take the case to court
What messages did the teams / drivers get? on the broadcast feed, the graphic came up that stated specific cars to pass. Did all the competitors get the message Lapped Cars May Pass or was did only those affected get the message Cars a, b, c, d, e May Pass? Fair question, but again this would have ...

Oh come on. Even Albon wins the title at that point there was absolutely nothing special from Max in that last lap. That is your opinion, my point was he didn't do anything underhanded on that last lap, he did what any other driver would have done, took advantage of the opportunity, however I have ...

Re: Should merc take the case to court
It's actually a very well written clause. Once the message is sent to ALL competitors, which is the first thing that they got wrong, those that have been lapped are required to pass, and those that have not been lapped are not required to pass. There is no other interpretation.

48.12 If the clerk of the course considers it safe to do so, and the message "LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE" has been sent to all Competitors via the official messaging system, any cars that have been lapped by the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the safety car. Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Well, I’m very happy that my pessimism on this thread has turned out to be wrong. I was predicting that Max would have been without a title until 2025. As good of a jinx as F1Tyrant’s “will Lewis even reach 100 wins” thread was after Austria, I honestly think that this thread might have been an eve...

It was lost a little too me in the shocking pupateering there at the end of the race but on the restart I haven't seen to much about Max's LA lane changes down the back straight. He must weave at least two full times from left to right and right to left. There is weaving but is that really necessary...

Re: Mercedes Lodge Multiple Protests Against Result
Things fade as time passes. Prost won the 1989 championship largely because he crashed into his rival who got DSQ'd for skipping a chicane when recovering. Nobody discounts it or thinks any less of that championship than Prost's 3 others. Yes they do, the same for Schumacher’s 1994 and Sennas 1990....

Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
Also, Masi called it a motor race. Normally in a motor race a driver in second would have to try and overtake while also defending the car behind. I'm sure that Sainz would have left them to it. But the officials should not be able to make that choice for him. The more you think about it, the more s...

Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
Honestly, it's such a shame that the season was ended like that. There are a lot of gray areas in racing and those decisions often get contentious but such a blatant disregard of the rules is just something else all together. It was very possible that the final safety car was going to hand Max the a...

I don't think there was a single case of that yesterday. He failed to make the corner in a very similar manner to Brazil forcing Hamilton further wide. It's not accidental him failing to stay on track. Brazil he clearly made no effort to take the corner. In Abu Dhabi he very obviously made every ef...

Re: Will the FIA step up. A possible championship permintation.
Curious if anyone has changed their opinion following the last race. Honestly, I'm not sure at this point as it would certainly seem that the FIA are more content to keep liberty happy and favour entertainment over a fair competition. Not sure if that has always been the case but it seems strange. I...

What I would question is the few who suggest that had there been contact, then maybe Max would have been given the penalty and been deemed mostly at fault. If it is not a penalty without contact, then it should not be a penalty if Hamilton decides to take the risk and call Max’s bluff. I think othe...

Odds on Hamilton taking a new ICE with a 5 place penalty at every remaining race this season, because they'd take the penalty in exchange for the rocketship they had in Brazil :) I would, if it were me! I’m not convinced Tsunoda is at fault for messing up Perez and Verstappen’s laps in Q3. REdbull were such good fortune tellers when they pittled Max for the first time even though they knew Ricciardo was still in his pit window. It's largely down to balance though, from what I gather (I've read understeer in FP1, oversteer in FP2). If RB donlt find the sweet spot, yes, Verstappen will have problems. However, assuming they do, I'd expect him to genuinely challenge - i.e. I don't see a genuine car deficit here. Commentators ...

That is clearly not the case, else Verstappen not being alongside Hamilton "until significantly into the entry into Turn 1" would not be relevant and stated in the stewards ruling at all. Using the two corners to aid the description of the sequence of events is not the same as treating them separate...

I can’t believe that it needs to be said, but you simply can not consider corner 2 in Monza as a standalone corner and interpret the racing rules based on that alone. If you do then there are going to be many occasions where you don’t draw the same conclusions as the stewards. Are you aware you alm...

Of course there is a much more relevant question to the thread, which is how high can Hamilton go?
Ross Brawn has suggested 120 might be achievable. Will ultimately depend how much Hamilton enjoys racing the new cars.

You disagree with the fact that Max's actions at the same corner on two seperate laps show that he thinks he is right to close the door when on the inside, and expect space when on the outside, going into turn 1, and don't see a problem with that?
