Testing is basically to get knowledge of car, tyre evaluation, reliability and things like these are more important.

Of course it is going to take some races and may be his best will come during second half only.

This has to be MS last year in F1. He is too old now but doing well especially in race. He had 2DNF otherwise would have scored more than Nico who is very underrated driver for some reason
