Re: Official 2017 MotoGP Thread
I'm just gutted Stoner hasn't been around the last few years to add to the mix. Unfortunately he just didn't have the fortitude to carry on, he still loves riding the bikes but not so much the wheel to wheel combat perhaps? I was under the impression it was the whole media / publicity circus he was...

Re: F1 Driver Salaries in 2017!
Force India do very well with their budget, considering they only put in similar money to some of the minnow teams.
I think a $/point scale is a bit too simple, the law of diminishing returns means money increases exponentially for small gains at the front of the field.

Re: Force India concerns RE Halo
All the versions we've seen so far have been built only to test visibility. I imagine the real thing will need to be attached to the car in a more secure way, maybe Force India are referring to changes in chassis supports for the halo? Either way, they do have quite a long time and most teams wouldn...

Re: Which driver is the most gentle on their tires?
Daniel Ricciardo should get a mention here. Many of his 2014 performances came about because he displayed an excellent ability to save his tyres for a late race assault (to great effect). This year at Monaco he did much the same thing, looking after his tyres until Verstappen & Raikkonen pitted then...

I think Palmer was a stretch to include on the poll. Having a vote is just taking the mickey!
I would think Kubica is the leading contender with Sainz another possibility.

Re: Rumour - Sainz will replace Palmer in Hungary?
Would be a good move I think. Gives Sainz the rest of the year to show what he can do outside Toro Rosso. Jolyon didn't really deserve a second year in the car. Unreliability hasn't helped him, but he also has a terrible attitude when he crashes. "fairy cakes happens" comes to mind. If the Red Bull ...

Ricciardo by far. He just reminded everyone of his unequalled overtaking ability. He got through the backmarkers and midfield so quickly it was unbelievable. A small mistake was made, but he righted himself and sliced right through again like it didn't happen. Put this guy in a Merc or Ferrari. I th...

Going to give it to Ricciardo. Hamilton had a good weekend, but it's just another dominant weekend for the dominant Mercedes. Ricciardo was top of the very wet Q1 when his car failed. He also drove the wheels off the RB13 (once again) to slice through the field with a passing masterclass. I can't th...

Wouldn't be the first time a team has claimed the exact opposite of what is happening behind closed doors.
In saying that, I'm not convinced Alonso will pop up at Ferrari. I think he will leave McLaren, but exactly which seat he lands in is very unclear.

Lewis has a history of driving erratically behind the safety car to cause confusion and chaos behind him. If that were true, why would Vettel not know this? Why would Vettel drive right behind him and expose himself to Lewis' "erratic" driving? This makes no sense. Sebastien is a fiercely competiti...

Even as a die-hard Daniel Ricciardo fan, I would say Max has had the edge with pace this year. But in saying that, Daniel is still a very fast driver and has shown his class at times this year. DOTD had to be Ricciardo. It was his work passing cars between safety car periods which got him to 3rd where he would inherit the lead. Bit harsh on Hamilton, he made a mistake in Japan 2007. I don't recall any other instances of him causing such problems. ...

Lewis has a history of driving deliberately erratically behind the safety car. He doesn't accelerate out of corners intermittently and appears to try to cause chaos behind him. Looking through the field, there isn't really much choice! Most of the best talent are in top teams and unlikely to move on. It really depends what happens with Kimi and Bottas. Bottas hasn't really had stand-out "wow" performances, but then again the Williams hasn't been good enough to allow that. In 2014 when the Ws were competitive he was often exploiting it. But then the same is true for Hamilton. He obviously has exploited the Mercedes speed and did so at McLaren when ...

The current points system works quite well in my opinion. The fact that Nico had to finish on the podium to win either means the championship was quite close, or the points gap between the podium and the minor placings is sufficiently large. Lewis only won one more race than Nico (10-9), it's not as...
