Re: F1 needs fresh ideas to keep from falling apart even mor

Just to play Devil's advocate...No, maybe fresh ideas are not necessary; maybe F1 should fall apart. Maybe we are already past the point of no return. Keep the DRS, the silly rules, no testing, add Bernie's lawn sprinklers and medals and whatever else he comes up with and just let him go off and pla...

Re: 14 cars OR 20 cars but no Ferrari

I think the answer is a function of Ferrari's global branding; the stronger and more lodged in the publics' consciousness this is the more F1 requires their presence. I think too that this relationship is less marked the other way; Ferrari's participation in F1 has some influence on its brand but no...

Just to chuck a spanner in the works... Do we need also to look at failures? Example. Lotus turbine car "dominated" at Indy until a cheap widget let go. So why don't Mercedes score nineteen one-two's?

Re: Mercedes F1 W05 the most dominant F1 car of all time?

I think you have to look at percentage of races entered in which one-two's are scored (my quick and dirty mental arithmetic says McLaren managed about 62% ) I don't think you can include margin of victory and I can't think of a way of eliminating the driver from the equation. Not sure if (with a lot...

Has to be show. One doesn't want to watch a high-wire act two inches off the ground, nor does one want to see the artist go splat from a hundred feet up. One wants the suspense that he might, the thrill that he's going to lose it and the rush when he doesn't. People enjoy being scared; if not why so...
