Re: 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread

If they are doing sprint races they need to come up with a sprint compound of tyre I think and something else to make them different from a normal race - I seriously dont see the point the way this is My thoughts exactly watching this. Re: Tweaks of Sprint and Qualifying

So now with the sprint sessions having no influence on the actual GP, if I were the RB drivers, & maybe even Alonso, i'd be inclined to not even bother pushing it in the sprint sessions & instead use them as a chance to gather data or just run at the back of the field to aviod any chance of a colli...

Re: Tweaks of Sprint and Qualifying

If you put the slowest driver on pole position then that's rewarding poor performance, in F2 and F3 we see slower drivers being able to win races because faster drivers have been basically handicapped, they then get feted as race winners, that's not sport it's just entertainment, yes it can be view...

Reverse grids you either like them or not, I always view sport as a meritocracy thus don't believe anyone should be rewarded for poor performance, I believe most feel the same. I find it hard to distinguish reverse grid races from Hollywood red flags dash for the cash finishes (NASCAR term), both p...

The other option that seems really quite obvious, but perhaps there are good reasons for not going with it, would be to have qualy on Friday set the grid for Sunday, and use reverse order for the sprint race.

Re: Tweaks of Sprint and Qualifying

With shorter qualifying sessions they should introduce some form of penalty for bringing out yellow /red flags. Would be a good opportunity to trial things like that for actual qualifying. Would like to see drivers penalized for interrupting sessions.

Just stick the the normal rules. Races are fine to finish under the SC. Worked perfectly fine until they decided to amend it for the 2021 title decider. My ideal is that when there is a red flag that the cars are released back into the track at their previous gap, but there’s no chance of that happening. I want them to get rid of the grid start at least but that’s not happening either unless there’s a driver revolt. This isn’t my ideal as I don’t s...

It does make you wonder what they actually reviewed and agreed following AD2021. Clearly nothing meaningful in terms of a plan going forward. Against standing starts generally (other than the actual start) but at a minimum the rules should rule them out in the latter stages. They should be restricte...

Is this on the re-start or the re-re-start?
I think whichever one was the last standing start.
The one that didn't count but you can still get penalties from?

Surely it is an ongoing process – just like development of the cars. The teams don’t stop developing – sure mainly in terms of pace, but they explore every avenue and making it harder for cars to follow will always be a part of that. So, I suspect development of the rules/regs to try and find the ri...

Apologies if I've missed it but does anyone know whether fines are identified in the financial requirements as an exclusion or not? See that Red Bull have claimed the disputed amount is 1-200k. The FIA might not want to publicly announce details, but they should surely make a clear statement whether that is true or not now that Red Bull have put it out there. The more transparency the better at this point.

Or is it simply to stop teams from bringing cars out of the garage, and 'parking' them in the 'pit stop position' temporarily prior to entering the track. Not even sure what benefit that would provide.
