Re: What should Vettel do?

Yes, of course I am, Why wouldn't they? I really believe Renault have their issues mostly resolved, and Red Bull's are their own. Another Renault team are already clocking up the mileage today, Toro Rosso have done almost 20 laps already. Hopefully RBR and Lotus can get some decent laps on the board...

Re: What should Vettel do?

What Caterham are managing its largely irrelevant. I imagine the engine has done thousands of miles on a dyno very reliably, but this is with the ability to adjust cooling as required. The Caterham may cool the engine perfectly well whereas the RB may not, thus the engine becomes unreliable. There ...

Re: What should Vettel do?

Renault shouldn't get extra time, unless everybody else gets it too. Nonsense. Every manufacturer knows and has agreed with the terms: that an engine manufacturer will get the chance to iron out reliability issues should it be necessary. Only for this reason a manufacturer will be allowed to work o...

Re: What should Vettel do?

You've missed the "Stay put and race hard with the equipment he's got" option.

Renault shouldn't get extra time, unless everybody else gets it too. Red Bull's problems are not necessarily Renault's - Caterham banged out plenty of laps today with their Renault engine.

Re: Big drop in television audience watching F1

F1 moving to Sky was the main influencing factor in us getting it - but since we have, we watch a LOT of Sky TV. I have no real issue with the coverage on Sky, I do prefer the BBC coverage though, I think the commentary team just miss less things that are going on in the race - and Suzi will get bet...

Re: Lotus to test at Jerez on Friday

That's good news for all the Renault powered teams I reckon, hopefully they'll get some much needed mileage put on the power unit. Did any of the other Renault teams get anywhere near 100km testing done at Jerez last week?

Re: 2014 Teammate Battles

Red Bull Vettel - Whilst I expect Ricciardo to impress, it's a massive leap from TR up to RB. Mercedes Hamilton - Hamilton's class will show this season having had a year to settle in and adjust things more to the way he works. Ferrari Kimi - I think this will be the fiercest inter-team battle, but...

Re: 2014 Jerez Winter Testing thread..

In my opinion once the testing schedule has been decided the teams should just stick to it, who knows when any bad luck will strike the reliability of the car. What happens if a driver picks up a slight injury in some way meaning he has to drop out of his scheduled day, but is able to race on a sub...

Mclaren didn't get the car out on Tuesday, so Button is doing this morning, KM is doing this afternoon and tomorrow.

Its an aero measuring device apparently - ferrari have on one also.
Ah, that makes sense, I thought I'd seen it on the Merc too, couldn't find the photo though.

For the car shape, Sauber would win. But an uninspiring paint job put it behind the Merc, and probably Mclaren too IMO.

I know it's not representative of anything really, but 1:30 seems decent for Bottas after just 7 laps.

Re: FIA Rubber stamped minor rule changes

Something I may have missed before but tyre warmers will be banned in 2015. Should make things interesting and will mean the tyres will have to be completely different in 2015... That's something I've missed too - it'll be interesting immediately after a pit stop when the tyres are not up to temper...

Hey, I'm Herb.

A long time reader, and I registered a while ago, but forgot to chase up my account activation.

I am form England and have avidly followed F1 over the last few years - but my real motorsport interest has always been the UK short ovals (BriSCA F1).
