Re: The Official Daniel Ricciardo Thread
Maldonado did a senna-esque drive in spain a few years ago. Team mate qualified 18th him second. WOWWWW. That is Senna-esque. In race pace that car was clearly nowhere near the fastest. He had Alonso the best driver in F1 right behind him with a much much quicker car trying every trick in the book ...

I didn't mean for anyone I meant the title race in general. I'd rather see it go on to a cracking finish than see it die out like a damp squib. Well, the most interesting thing for the title race would be: Rosberg takes out Hamilton: Banned from next race Hamilton DNFs: 0 points Ricciardo wins: 25 ...

I see Merhi posted a faster time than Ericsson... Yep its rather embarrasing I think the Swede is approaching the twilight of his F1 career. I think the Swede began his career in the late evening, and will finish it before the sun has a chance to rise again. What confounds me is how anyone expected...

Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?
Vettel has had a brand new chassis built for him for Monza with updates on it which he is happy with so far. He has a very good chance to get on the podium on sunday as the redbull is looking very quick. Hard to tell as maybe the williams might have some good updates also. Looks to me like the Red ...

Actually in the context of the post I was replying to - referring to the three drivers who could have won the title - it was the best man who won it in the end. He went into the final race a distant 3rd in the title hunt. His two main rivals crumbled , while Seb put in a great performance to steal ...

Yeah, frankly when you get right down to it it's pretty arrogant of a bunch of people on a forum - maybe 1% of whom have ever raced a car, 0% of whom have raced an F1 car - to make judgements about the performance of F1 drivers. Alonso on the other hand actually knows what he's talking about.

Sure, if everyone else does it and its standard practice as part of the Ballon d'Or, then fair enough. If there was a prize that worked in the same away for F1 drivers, then I won't mind. But I don't see Lewis saying Alonso is better than Vettel , Ricciardo saying Lewis is better than Alonso, or Ve...

Re: Difference between avoidable collisions and racing incid
There would probably have been a penalty had the drivers involved been from different teams. No one asked for an investigation or demanded a penalty in this case. Also the team told Lewis right after the contact that it was a racing incident. Personally, I read that as Lewis asking 'did he hit me o...

Re: Difference between avoidable collisions and racing incid
There is no such thing as an avoidable accident. Either a collision is deliberate, or it is unavoidable. Or else it didn't happen. Avoidable accident: Suzuka 1989. Driving into someone: Suzuka 1990. In all seriousness, an avoidable accident would be where if a driver had taken a different course of...

Alonso has said Hamilton is best and Vettel is not many times. It's cool for him to have his opinion, but repeating it so often starts to look bad on him. I doubt he likes getting asked that left and right either, but people won't leave it alone. Do you think next time someone asks 'Alonso, conside...

It is still a fact, you can spin it however you want. I take you think Hamilton is miles better than alonso then, considering he matched him as a rookie during alonso's 7th full year? Heck no, but I see what you're saying. At the time I did think Lewis was going to turn out to be better than Alonso...

Hamilton is not consistent enough to be seen as king imo. He also has a much more dominant car than vettel ever did and he is not getting anywhere near the level of performance Seb was hitting. So let me get this straight... after the way this year has gone, there are still people who seriously think Vettel is the best driver? To be, on average, 7 tenths faster than your team-mate over 2 years is quite telling. In fact it's an absolute drubbing. I doubt Bianchi would have the same margin over Chilton even. Not far off; Bianchi was -0.585 over Chilton in 2013, and to date in 2014 is at -0.599. On four occasions this year ...

That is a very generous get out clause, I would be surprised if Ferrari would agree to that. Put that into perspective Hamilton is 29 points behind the championship leader and he is in the same car. In 2011 after testing the Red Bull did not Vergne brashly say he could do at least as good a job as Webber in that car? Indeed he did , and he may have known what he was talking about. I've just watched Monza 2008 on Classic F1. I refuse to write off Seb as an average, overhyped, champion. I think that F1yer has a point in that people's opinions are heavily swayed by surface impressions, whereas upon digging deeper a different story may emerge. Agreed. Heikki also matched Lewis in quali. Granted he was usually pretty close to Lewis positionally, but over the period when they were teammates Lewis out-qualified him 26-9 with 11 poles to Heikki's 1. So he was about as close to Lewis as Jenson in qualifying, although not in the races. Not quite match...

I also think this is going to be a good weekend for the tyre savers among the drivers . With the amount of torque and lack of downforce, managing wheelspin is going to be a factor. I think some people are coming at this as though the title was 'has your opinion of Vettel changed forever this year', which isn't what it's about.
