Re: 2016 Chinese Grand Prix Qualifying Thread
Since 2003, Raikkonen has been screwing qualifying laps over and over and over again, and simply goes out and says "I made a mistake". He does this very regularly. A team's driver choices reflect it's ambitions. Ferrari fired him, to get Alonso, then took him back saying he will challenge Alonso, w...

Re: Vettel thinks normally aspirated engines are better.
That is complete and utter nonsense - in fact the opposite is true. The reason the 2016 qualifying time looks relatively good is because it was set on what are practically qualifying tyres, and on low fuel. The 2005 time was set on a single set of ultra hard tyres that had to last both qualifying a...

Kimi wasted him second run His first lap in Q3 was good enough. RBR always exaggerate about engine deficiency but it is never that big difference TBH. Ferrari missed the chance though with Hamilton out. It should be a great race tomorrow

Re: Could Vettel have won the race if not for the engine fai
No. This is one of Kimi's strongest circuits, if not his best. He beat Vettel here last year , and was closest to beating Alonso here in 2014 in a fair fight. While Raikkonen lost a heap of time in traffic, I'd be pretty confident Rosberg was simply cruising to save his PU components and avoid a po...

Re: Vettel thinks normally aspirated engines are better.
Once upon a time Formula One cars were in the same category as thoroughbred horses. They were fast, powerful, temperamental, and it took a special person to handle them. What we have now is something more utilitarian and designed by a committee. A camel. They have not always been powerful and the c...

Whichever can be used in road cars for normal people to buy that technology should be used and I guess manufacture are happy with that because all the hundreds of million $ spent should be worth it and not just for F1 or making a supercar for just 500 people

Ferrari have improved and miles ahead of William, RBR. But not sure the gap is reduced to Mercedes. May be just by 0.1secs or 02secs. Ferrari obviously say positives things in interview like just one big step away and they are almost there. Nico I remember said after winter testing that Ferrari migh...

Vettel was horrible compared to Kimi last year too. Depending on the start it would be good race with Kimi instead. Mercedes have good advantage and Nico was crusing. He finished 10secs ahead and 30 to Hamilton with a damaged car. Ferrari have improved the performance for sure compared to last year ...

Rosberg was coasting on half power most of that race. Probably true that he had it well in hand. The idea that Vettel would have more likely than not won this race seem quite wild to me, but the season has many more tales to deliver. Kimi was faster than Vettel last year as well. Vettel has advanta...

Kimi - Great pace and best possible result. Also clean overtaking. Vanndorne - Great overtaking got a point in his first race. Definitely should drive Mcalren-Honda next year. Lewis Hamilton's pole time from last season would have put him right at the back of Q2 today! I hope they call off these plans to overhaul the aero for next season, there's clearly no need to make the cars any faster. Better to leave the rules stable; that will improve the racing naturally by bring...

Amazing how Lewis can mess up his first lap, and beat his team-mate and only benchmark by less than a tenth on a second attempt, and get hailed as some kind of messiah afterwards by Sky's pundits. I do not think off road matters as he did not gain any unfair advantage hence it was legal lap. This was better qualifying for Ferrari. I thought they would be 0.8secs down. 2007 definitely. I can't believe how Hamilton lost with 2 races to go. The Mercs tend not to go for sandbagging the way Ferrari might be more willing to. Hamilton because he was fastest in all practice session and all qualifying session including 2 fastest laps in Q3. In the race his start was bad but due to Nico in turn1 lost more ground than needed. Ferrari has huge problems if it is engine failure for Kimi x( Mercs were in traffic with hard tyres in low temp and somehow still won. They have a big advantage in performance. Nope they are not top team. Moreover this is not a engine track, it is like a street track. Although having good engine always helps. Bahrain and China will give better idea. They looked good today. In Q3 definitely Mercedes will allow their drivers to fight for pole. If Ferrari are ahead of others and half a secs down on Mercs they might not bother doing laps and save tyres. STR in top6 and Mclaren-Honda 11-12 is the biggest surprise so far I think if Ferrari is only 0.2secs behind then this is a big thing. I was sure Mercedes have half a second in hand when they use full engine power. Ferrari can get pole due to knockout format

Wow. Din't know it was free all this time lol. But still I am sure much better than here we have adds too and have to pay exclusively for F1 as they cleverly distribute sports on different channels such that whole sports package needs to be bought
