Re: Webber you can't retire soon enough!
I see no reason to denegrate *any* driver in this way. I'd say Webber is retiring half-a-year too late. I don't think starting the season was a mistake. But Malaysia onwards, incident induced perhaps, he no longer had the motivation or worse, the aptitude to beat his team mate. He's had a decent car...

Re: Anyone else find Kimi overrated?
Silly question really. I don't care much for Kimi's public persona. The only thing I like about it is that I know he wouldn't care about that very fact. But Kimi was in the Championship hunt for a respectable chunk of last season. And this season is holding down 3rd despite both Mercedes drivers hav...

Re: Podium booing
The booing is still there but it has calmed down since Imola. I wouldn't be surprised to see it pretty much dead by the end of the year. They've booing Vettel since the 2006 San Marino Grand Prix? That's a bit rough, he would have a been just a spectator then :-P Monza obviously. But you have opene...

Re: Belgium 1998...
All in all a racing incident for me and a stupid one at that. It robbed us from a great performance from Schumacher that day, almost on par with his Spanish '96 win. With Hakinen out of the race he was slicing the field showing why he was called the "rainmaster". But it was never to be. I was a Sch...

Re: Fred gets his knuckles rapped by Luca
Sources close to Ferrari say the team are not entirely convinced Alonso always gets the best out the car in qualifying, while those close to Alonso say he feels he is constantly having to push to the absolute maximum to make up for an uncompetitive car. The doubts on Alonso's performances are a dir...

Re: Fred gets his knuckles rapped by Luca
I have almost no sympathy for Ferrari here. The slither of sympathy I have is the unfortunate circumstances that befell Massa, and the slow rot that set in subsequently. Basically Ferrari have reapped what they have sown by for allowing Alonso an unchallenged no. 1 status in the team. This BBC repor...

Re: Your top 10 drivers of the 2012 Season.
3. Hamilton - fastest driver when he stayed out of trouble. But again ruined a good season by letting to much unimportant stuff get in the way of results. I genuinely feel he is the fastest driver out there, and that type of talent cannot be ignored. But he needs to take a leaf out of Alonso's book...

Re: Your top 10 drivers of the 2012 Season.
1. Raikonnen - I wasn't much impressed by Kimi in his spells with top teams, but this season he's won me over. The Lotus may have been competitive at times, but when you consider the top 3 teams are clearly Red Bull, Maclaren and Ferrari, landing 3rd in the championship, finishing every race (and la...

Re: Most Laps Completed In a Season?
Apologies if this has been highlighted on another thread, but by my understanding... Kimi being lapped once in Brazil means that at the ultimate race, he was one lap shy of completing every lap of every race this season. Is that right?
Still absolutely outstanding from Raikkonen.

This may have been discussed, but just want to make sure...
Hamilton did say fairy cakes, right? It sounded to me like he started saying it and tried, or succeeded in catching it.
And wasn't sure, but looked like Whitmarsh was reassuring him that it was no big deal????

Re: Button "unfollows" Lewis
I do wonder why teams don't just tell drivers not to have a twitter/facebook/whatever to prevent things like this, and I'm talking about the misunderstanding overall. Or just employ some PR person to tweet on the driver's behalf to prevent it. 1. The original misunderstanding was bad enough and it ...

Re: Qualifying: How to fix it?
They need to increase the number of sets of tyres available. The current tyre allocations were based on the more durable Bridgestones, it is clear that the drivers simply don't have enough sets of tyres. I think an extra set of each compound would improve things massively without losing the strateg...

Re: Qualifying: How to fix it?
I've thought of a few fixes, but the simplest is to reward the teams that go to Q3 *and* set a timed run in it with a gimme point. At the very least it'll give the teams disinsentive not to run if able, as their rivals could go 1-2 points up on them in the constructors by simply getting a timed run ...
