Re: Is Massa an incident magnet?
When you qualify in the 3rd-15th or so grid position - more things happen than at the extreme front or back. I'd still prefer to qualify 3rd than 22nd.

Re: Easy weight saving
It seems one of the reasons F1 carbon-fibre parts are so expensive is that each car is unique, only a couple of each are built, and parts are always changing. Only in large scale production could costs be reduced. Consequently it also seems that embedded colours in carbon-fibre would be even more c...

Re: Easy weight saving
This is interesting.
I've thought about this another way - what if they could coat the car with colored teflon? I have a friend in the teflon industry who thinks he can make teflon bond with carbon fiber.
Would it reduce wind drag enough to justify the additional weight?

Re: Hamilton-Rosberg; how do they rate as a pair?
Hamilton - Rosberg may be the strongest pair since 2007 and since Hamilton - Alonso (two of the best if not the two best drivers of this generation) was not stronger than Senna-Prost, it may be decades before we see anything like that again -if ever.

Re: penalty system during pitsop: fair?
I'm wondering how much of an advantage it is to start like Alonso did (he didn't do it on purpose). If the penalty is only five seconds for that - and you can pass 2-3 cars - and it takes 15 or so laps to determine you did it - it might be positive.

I think Hamilton showed intelligence and cunning in letting Rosberg go at the start of his first stint then steadily reeling him in at the end. He was much faster on the harder tyres than Rosberg was and he would've had the tyre advantage late - I actually thought that Hamilton might be one stopping...

Re: Interesting statistics about Alonso
The reason Alonso got beat by Hamilton in 2007 was simple: Alonso was hired on at a huge salary as the reigning WDC (and this was right). He had beaten Michael Schumacher, who was at that time acknowledged as the best driver in 2006 in a close fight in equal or near equal equipment. The only person,...

I would either be like Deletraz "stupifyingly slow" or possibly end up dead - possibly both.
But I am 6'1" 220 pounds - I doubt I'd fit.
MP4-4 - Either Spa or Suzuka.

Re: Schumacher vs team mates (Vettel comparison)
Schumacher 1991-2006 was never beaten by his team-mates, apart from the odd race. I think Rubens came closest. Michael enjoyed the longest era of dominance/ being the fastest driver, in history. I am amazed at Ricciardo beating Vettel consistently so far this season! Can the car be that tricky for ...

It was not something any rational driver would do on purpose under those circumstances because it only hurts the team. If he could push Ricciardo off the track and win a race or the WDC by doing so - that is a different matter. Clearly a racing insident and inadvertant - nothing more.

1992 was a poor season for Senna relative to his teammate Berger on points, who quite frankly Senna was expected to smash. He beat Berger on pace all year, but Senna was involved in more incedents and had more mechanical issues (particularly towards the end of the year when the gap to Williams was n...

For me it depends on how he responds.
Senna had a very poor (for his standards) season in 1992(yet still won 3x against a phenominal Williams), but 1993 was IMO his finest season.

I'm no fan of Alonso, but he is much better than 6th on the grid.
An arguement could be made for Alonso being 3rd best on the grid. I really can't see placing him lower than that.

I think they are very close on ability, but that does not mean the point tally would be close. Its possible that one could get the upper hand and the other could crumble. That is a false comparison.
Coming in early in Monaco 2014 and China 2007 are completely different.
If Lewis were leading the WDC in the penulitmate race by a significant margin and wanted to come in just to ensure points, there is no way Mercedes would tell him "no."

Alonso has generally looked stronger than he did in 2007 but Alonso did come unglued about the Hamilton penalty due to the safety car in 2010 and was very bent out of shape about Petrov fighting him for position in the last race of that year. We've seen this before - Alonso is just no match for Lewis in qualifying (Lewis has got better at qualifying since 2007) - and if he would have to always setup his car with a race setup and hope to pass on pitstops. I can't see Alonso even doing as well as Rosberg will against Hamilton in that car. ...

Lewis is currently my favorite driver, but you can't say Lewis is faster than Schumacher by using Rosberg. Schumacher version 2.0 (although still reasonably good) was no-where near as good as Schumacher version 1.0. You can't compare Lewis to Alonso (from 2007) and then Alonso to Massa and Massa to ...

Because most people wouldn't recognize the name Deletraz that some of the Vettel fans wanted him to use for comparison.

If Hamilton has a ONE point lead or even points but more victories going into the last race I think its covered. I envision Rosberg not being able to get the lead without a crash in this case.

I'm a Hamilton fan.
I kinda think of Monaco as a one off. If it starts happening a lot it will be more of a concern. I think Hamilton will beat him over the course of the season, but not every race from here on out. Hamilton just needs to be ahead by the last race and he will be fine.

Neither Hill nor Mika were rookies when they paired Senna. Hill had raced along side Prost in 1993 and Hakk had two years of racing at Lotus prior to pairing Senna.
I'll agree they weren't at the height of their relative powers (particularly Mika), but they were not rookies.

I think Senna, but from reading the posts in this thread there are some cogent well reasoned arguments for Schumacher.
I think Schumacher would either paired Senna at Williams in 1996-97 or gone to McLaren in 1998.
Senna may have retired if he won in 1994 & 1995.

Senna by a country mile. Hamilton unsettled Alonso with his speed. Hamilton is very fast. Senna was the fastest ever (although an arguement could be made for Clark).
