Clever design work.
That is the exhaust heat shield cover & isnt attached to the back wing. However, it looks like Williams has designed it to be 'mini wing'. Not sure how benifical it will be, but I'm guessing it will probably adopted by a lot of other teams as the season progresses.

Well that sounds 'different'.
Not loud, but high pitched. It basically sounds like a full size 1:1 RC car.

Re: Juan Montoya on Schumi and Ferrari
You must remember that the Ferrari was built around Schumi & together the car & the driver became so dominant. Schumi was a great driver & the Ferrari just helped him excel. But watch the 'F1 Legends' series on Sky F1 with Montoya, he also emphasizes on there that it was as much the car as it was th...

Re: Races where the same team used different cars.
Technically, the cars weren't different but Keke Rosberg drove a McLaren at the 1986 Portuguese GP that was sponsored by Marlboro Lights which made the car yellow the white rather than the normal red and white car that Prost drove.

Re: Can someone explain what 'exceeded the fuel flow' means?
Sorry to highjack this thread, but I dont see why they have the Fuel Flow sensor in the first place. Surely if you are given a set amount of fuel per race (100kg), then it must be the team & drivers responsibility on how they manage it. If they want to pump a load of fuel into the engine to get more...

Re: Engine Sounds
Wouldn't a quieter sound suggest more efficiency from the engines? Less of the power wasted through noise and more through turning the wheels? While this is correct that to create sound, energy of one form gets converted into another (sound in this case), for this purpose the sound is different bec...

^ What if I told you that the current generation of road cars are now designed with a small engines with a turbo; and that ERS is now being developed for the average run around.
F1 is supposed to mirror current road car technology so that we see the benefits a few years down the line.

Re: what was tire war like??
I found utterly preposterous that Ferrari had special treatment from Bridgestone which made an already faster car into an unbeatable car. I remember Gary Anderson saying that other teams had to wait for a new type of tyre that Ferrari where using for about 3 or 4 races, once the Jordan got the tyre ...

Well, to be fair, I'm the only one taking about people resigning. If Red Bull has really poor reliability during races & they dont get a podium for the first half of the season, I can see Adrian Newey resigning. Why would he resign? he didn't 10 years ago when he couldn't get Mclarens 2003 to the race track at all. Yes, this is true - the MP4-18 never raced, but ...

Re: 2014 Jerez Winter Testing thread..
Just out of curiosity, are teams only allowed to bring one car to testing or could they have two in case one crashes?
Obviously, some lower end teams stuggle to get one car to testing, where as other big teams shouldnt have an issue getting two cars.

Of course something like Massas crash affected him, whether he emits it or not. Watch the Sky Gerhard Berger interview & he openly admits that after his crash at Imola, he never was the same & couldn't push as hard as he did before the crash. It kinda opened his eyes to the dangers. I think the only...
