Re: Should Bottas contract be extended?

Ocon and Perez were dead equal. Ocon didn't prove a thing in Force India. A journeyman like Perez should be left in the dust by a supposedly WDC-material driver. Like he was left in the dust by an actual WDC in 2013? Button beat Perez, and that was a season after the high of 2012 when Perez was a h...

Re: Should Bottas contract be extended?

I see perhaps two strong camps here, Hamilton fans and none Hamilton fans. Hamilton fans in the main are happy for Bottas to be retained not just because he's beatable for Hamilton but also because he's trustable, he's a fair teammate, to say it's because Bottas offers no threat wouldn't exactly be...

Re: Should Bottas contract be extended?

Some people seem like they are trying pretty hard to find reasons to criticise him. Bottas simply said that when he tried to push harder, it just happened to result in that mistake. He then just mentioned that as an alternative, he could have just played it safe and not risked trying to get by. He ...

Re: Should Bottas contract be extended?

Not his fault in Hungary. Germany yeah he binned it but it was a race where most people made errors. Only sheer luck saved Hamilton from joining him back in the garage early. If Wolff was indeed using these last 2 races as a guide to determine Bottas' future in the team as some suggest, then I see ...

Re: Should Bottas contract be extended?

It's assumed the last 2 races were like a barometer to judge his 2020 seat, Bottas had his worst 2 races during this period as a stark coincidence. I know Wolff said his overall results would matter but the last 2 races before the crucial summer break (where contracts are either signed or torn) wer...

Re: 2019 Mercedes vs. Ferrari vs. Red bull

Strange race this one. Red Bull faster in quali but slower in race. Lost how that's even possible. Ferrari wasn't even in the same Formula it seems this weekend. Mercedes is still number#1 by a good margin, but the Bulls may beat Ferrari at a bunch of tracks. Next up is Spa I think, there Ferrari sh...

Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

I think it was a clever piece of man management from the pit wall. Hamilton was all over Verstappen just after he pitted with fresher tyres, but LH seemed a bit lost for a solution and was looking for help, they could have left him out there and then he could have had a go on to have at the end mar...

Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

Red Bull were cowards today, and paid for their cowardice. Plain and simple. Full marks to Mercedes and stunning laps by Lewis, my driver of the day by a mile. Close second is Max for his defense against Lewis around lap 45-47.

Re: 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

Red Bull completely dropped the ball today with strategy. They had to pit before Lewis and just got complacent. Shameful. Drive of the day from Lewis on the other hand. Those quali laps were mighty. He delivered when asked. Very Schumacher-esque. Merc would have kept Lewis out then and taken P1 wit...

Today's second isn't Valterri's fault though. He had a wing failure. Still not looking too good that going into the summer break, he's barely ahead of Max. What's the point difference between them, 10 points?

His steering lock is not the only thing that affects his corner exit trajectory, he was also accelerating too harshly instead of being more gingerly with the throttle pedal until both cars had exited the corner with enough space, and then he can floor it. I'm not sure about the overtake. 50/50 penalty maybe. It wasn't close to what Rosberg did a couple of years ago. This race is very similar to Suzuka 2005. The driver at the front just chilling just assuming he's won the race. Meanwhile a driver from way back is charging and then finally overtakes in the final laps of the race.

I felt bad for Leclerc but he really should have not lost here.

Leclerc probably didn't expect the result. And there's a chance he could have driven better earlier. It was obvious a win was on the cars when Verstappen was +14 secs behind P1. There is no way to know but I get the feeling they'd be very evenly matched. This is coming from my view that LH doesn't leave much on the table, so being 0.1-0.2 faster than him would be really difficult.
