Re: Mercedes v Ferrari v Red Bull - 2018 edition

Saying the gap is 2 tenths is basically saying Vettel would not have improved on his 2nd run and Kimi would have lost 0.267 in sector 3 to get to the required 2 tenths over Mercedes. Ferraris best sectors was 0.270 quicker than Mercedes and that's without a Kimi final sector and Vettel not doing a ...

It will be interesting to see which car is quickest in the wet.

My prediction would be Ferrari since they are able to switch on the tyres so easily.

Re: Mercedes v Ferrari v Red Bull - 2018 edition

The term "dominate" gets thrown around way too loosely in formula 1. Plenty of good examples throughout the years but ill stiick to the most recent Merc 2014-2016 thats dominate. Being able to start at any grid position on any track and still be seen as the threat to win the race, thats dominate......

Re: Mercedes v Ferrari v Red Bull - 2018 edition

I'm not saying it's impossible, but for me the evidence suggests Kimi and Seb had their cars set up slightly differently. He was 0.2s faster than Vettel in S2 and I'm not sure I believe that he's that much better than Seb in the twisty bits, if at all. So I'd suggest the evidence points to Seb bein...

Actually the difference we saw last Saturday was misleading, and 0.400s is more accurate given both Vettel and Kimi messed up their final Q3 runs. Actually claiming 0.400s is in any way accurate is complete fabrication. There is no evidence from any point in the weekend to make that claim. Ap...

Re: Mercedes v Ferrari v Red Bull - 2018 edition

The way Vettel was easily able to build a gap of 3 seconds to Hamilton almost immediately after the first safety car restart was ominous. Very reminiscent of Bahrain 2014. Or just about any race from Vettel's Red Bull years where he qualified on pole. Building a gap on lap one or after a restart is...

China and Baku was both dominant Ferrari displays in quali, should have been both drivers locking the front row for 3 races on the trot. China I'll certainly give you, but I don't feel Baku was dominant. It was less than two tenths to the nearest Mercedes, and Kimi's mistake left him down in 6th. A...

If grandpa Kimi, who is one of the weakest qualifiers on the grid, is able to get on front row at every race, then you know that Ferrari have built a rocketship. How about the fact that grandpa Kimi is only a little bit behind Vettel when he does put it on the front row? Does that mean Vettel can't...

It seems like certain posters live in fantasy land where they believe myths such as:

Alonso was fired by Ferrari
Alonso always wishes ill on Ferrari
Alonso burnt his bridges at Ferrari
Ferrari made no effort to keep Alonso

All have been disproven by the evidence kindly provided by Lotus49.

Re: Why did Ferrari pit Vettel so early?

Vettel lost the race because he was too greedy on the restart. With the benefit of hindsight, he should have stayed behind Bottas and just waited for the race to fall into his lap. At the time however, it seemed like the best chance he had to retake the lead. The important thing was being ahead of ...
