McLaren and Mercedes engines (merged threads)
Well this is diabolical from Honda. Probably a worse engine than last years Renault. McLaren should have stuck with the Mercedes engine and worked on building a more competitive chassis, which they are more than capable of doing with the new engineering structure. This is so sad to see one of the sp...

Re: Red Bull Threatens to quit F1
For me the best bit is when he said "we would say this (about the engines) even if Renault were ahead". All those in favour of thinking that this is a bulls**t statement say I... Go home Red Bull for all I care. By then end of this season we'll have Merc, Ferrari, Williams and McLaren competing clos...

Re: Barcelona Testing
Bet on vettel for wdc Sayingt that it would be nice to see mercs comparable pace Not likely I'm afraid. Ferrari will have the 3rd quickest/best car at most come Australia. If Merc were concerned about the Ferrari's pace they would have responded by now. I'd bet Red Bull have pace in hand on them as...

Sit down Ferrari fans
I've given this a little time for the dust to settle following the Jerez test, but now all of the hopeful conjecture is out of the way I think it's time for a sensible and pragmatic assessment of Ferrari's performance at Jerez. In the space of the last 12 months Ferrari have sacked two team principl...

Re: Rosberg only needs to win two more races?
Yeah I doubt they'll have 1-2's in all races. RB will be strong at some of the upcoming tracks. If Hamilton headed into Abu Dhabi knowing that a win would give him the title, I think he'd take that right now given his recent run of bad luck. So, technically he just needs to be within 14 points of Ro...

I think the problem was the Merc strategist
Taking a slightly different approach to today's unfolding drama, I think the problem lies in Merc's choice of a single strategist. LH highlighted this a few races ago where he said "The strategist job is to get the best result for the team. At McLaren we had one each, at Merc we have just the one". ...

Relax LH fans!
To all the LH fans on here, chillax dudes! We are only just over a third of the way through the season and already the towel is in! Have some faith. I'm seeing posts full of points calculations assuming that Rosberg will finish second every race, and posts about rotten luck. There is such a long way...

Re: 2014 WDC goes to Lewis Hamilton!
I'd prefer formula where best chassis wins the championship, instead of best engine tbh, it gives many teams huge disadvantage, and i'm not Vettel fan at all !!, but it is really unjust towards Adrian Newey that his skills are useless, since he buys certain engine. I think Q3 today showed interesti...

Conclusions from Jerez
Early days in the season yet I know, but thought it would be good/fun to gain first impressions from the forum from the test in Jerez, and the f1 world in general. For me: 1. As speculated for a while now, Merc seem to have done the best job (so far) with their engine. Although it has to be said the...

Re: The greatest driver ever
This is easy - Schumi, even though I despised his dominance in the early 00's. He was a championship contender in 11 seasons in F1, loosing out on occasion only because his competition were in vastly superior cars, and he still won several races in those seasons. If you think Vettel's stats are oh ...

Re: Its really BORING
He'll thrash Ricciardo just as he has Webber, but I think he'll have to move teams to convince some people. Agree with that final statement, but not the first. I'm seriously pulling for Dani Ric next year, and I think he'll do a job on Vettel on more than a few race weekends. Many believe that Vett...

Sounding bitter? Dam right I am. I just want to see some racing. So why not watch the race for 2nd in the WCC and the 2nd and 3rd podium places? There is also some cracking racing going on in the midfield. True, there are some good battles in the midfield. Let me clarify - I want to see some racing...

Re: 2013 India GP Free Practice and Qualifying Thread.
wow Webber on the medium matched the mercedes drivers on softs. Just shows how dominant that redbull is. basically a different formula. Considering the one lap advantage Merc had earlier in the season, the gain Red Bull has made over the season is ridiculous. We're talking 1.5 seconds or thereabout...

Who is running this investigation into 'illegal' testing? You'd be forgiven for thinking it was Christian Horner aka 'Minnie Bernie' at the rate he's offering out opinions. My view is that he needs to pipe down. Firstly he kindly summarised the whole thing for us at Monaco 5 minutes and 18 seconds a...

How do I close this topic? You all make valid points. I think I'm just frustrated with the Vettel annoyance and I'm taking it out on Button. Clutching at straws really. They got the best out on one another and proved they each have the bottle to race against a champion.

Hahahahahahaha Seriously? Aren't some Hamilton fans able to live in the here and now? Dismissing the 'Button beat Hamilton on points' saga
I'm a little grumpy today so I'm going round the forum dispelling opinion, and this one is really grinding my gears. So here it is - Hamilton beat Button. Hamilton finished ahead of Button twice in the WDC in their 3 seasons together. Hypothetically, if Hamilton won the WDC by 1 point from Button tw...

Re: Why do some people dislike Vettel so much?
I have posted on this topic before, and I truly believe that Vettel's legacy will boil down to a single season or seasons where he is up against another WDC in the same machinery. Fingers crossed for Kimi in the Red Bull next year. If he beats Kimi, then fair play, and I'll take my hat off. If he ge...

Re: Will this be remembered as the Vettel Era?
I'm not so sure. Yes, Vettel is likely to pick up more titles, but to the people who know, he hasn't yet delivered that box office status. 3 world titles later and people are still on the fence about him. For some reason his achievements just don't sit right with certain people. Maybe because of his...

Before anyone else makes a comment I'd ask that you read this on BBC sport first. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/20531638 1. Read the regulation 179b half way down the page 2. Then watch the video The ironic thing is that I believe the Torro Rosso is moving over willingly to let Vettel pass. ...

Re: The question of Vettel's quality will never go away unti
I started this discussion and now I think I'm gonna finish it. Vettel and Hamilton are put in a race against each other. They start level, they have the same car, same setup, same tyres, same everything. You have to pick a winner. If you don't pick the right winner then the world will explode. Who i...

Fact - Seb Vettel is a world class driver. Fact - The general consensus is that Alonso is the best all round driver on the grid. Fact - The general consensus is that Hamilton is the quickest driver on the grid. So, you are Seb Vettel. You are about to become 3 x driver world champion. And yet, you a...

Re: So did Redbull put a blown exhaust in?
Ok, so I thought I'd gather some evidence before weighing in on the conversation. I just watched Seb Vettel's Canada pole lap (with the volume cranked up and some mahoosive earphones on) and compared it to Hamilton's Macca, and yes, I think there are some suspicious sounds emanating from that RB8 in...
