Re: Ramirez: McLaren need a better driver than Jenson

Button proved to be, at the very worst, a pretty good match for Hamilton. (Let's no go down this debate again). I think almost everyone in the F1 paddock would agree Hamilton is very quick. I don't see how you can complain about that speed. JB hasn't lost it in a year. JB is a former World Champion...

Re: Why the mad hunger for Button to fail?

We've had threads and posts since the start of 2010 that: Hamilton will destroy Button Perez will destroy Button Did we? He had 3 really good drives and I predicted he would struggle this year matching Button. An F1 season has NINETEEN races. People assessed Perez based on THREE. NINETEEN > THREE ....

Re: Valsecchi in for Kimi?

Is this not a missed opportunity for Nico? I only see it as a win-win for him. If he does he well, he puts himself right in line for the seat and if doesn't do so well, it will just be said he didn't have enough time to adapt. The fact he's turned it down suggests they've perhaps already filled tha...

Re: Mercedes duo - who will finish ahead?

Actually Nico could have won in Hungary. He was faster (on long runs) in practice, fastest in Q1, fastest in Q2, and had a chance of pole only for the brake balance adjuster to fail in qualifying. It dropped him to 4th, and then he had a bad start. But he definitely had the pace of Hamilton. Let's ...

I don't think Magnussen is the next Hamilton or Vettel. But I could be wrong. My reasons for this are more superstitious than any. I've flicked the channels and seen Vettel, Hamilton, Rosberg, Grosjean, Kovalainen doing well, but I haven't seen Magnussen. Vettel of all of them sticks in my mind. I h...

Re: Mercedes duo - who will finish ahead?

Show us any evidence of this nonsense. He had tires in Abu Dhabi that lasted for over 25 laps without performance drop and still did not outrace Rosberg on those. In the contrary. If he had Hamilton special edition tires he still would not be significantly faster than Nico. Evidence is Abu Dhabi. J...

Re: Mercedes duo - who will finish ahead?

Lewis has been as good since they started using cheese tyres. They seem to be holding him back and he has lost his consistency and sometimes slips up due to the crazy nature of these tyres. I have no doubt he is much better than Rosberg and he usually is when he has clean races but since Italy some...

Re: would the 2008 Belgian grand prix be..

It shouldn't be. The majority of the race was really rather dull. Exactly that, I remember at the time - before Hamilton's penalty was handed down - reading editorials and forum posts by people declaring "Was that the greatest race ever?" and remember thinking "well it was quite dull between Hamilt...

Lotus must have had a load of spare noses they wanted destroyed. Lol, MSC did break a couple of noses in each his last 3 seasons. Admittedly. It happens, Alonso broke three this year. Re: Mercedes duo - who will finish ahead?

I like Bakerking31's scoring of points per-race-finished, which is a good comparison between team-mates. I use different measures, and came up with Rosberg very slightly ahead in races, Lewis ahead in pre-race times. Overall as at race 2013/17 I score them about equal. It can be useful but it doesn...

Re: Mercedes duo - who will finish ahead?

Well going on Hamilton's attitude after the race if he doesn't get his head sorted soon then Rosberg has a very good chance of overhauling him. Hamilton gets depressed when he can't fight for wins, I think the best thing for him is to focus on beating Rosberg over the remaining two races, which he ...

probably a dumb question but I have no clue. I mean some back markers are 2 laps down, do they keep going until the end? Meh, I haven't ever argued that point, just as you people can't argue that Hamilton beat Button in 2 out of the 3 seasons they were racing together. Absolutely! Just as the best performance in those 3 years together was Button's 2nd place in 2011 WDC and 270 points. These are facts, nothing to argu...

Whatever about who won, I don't think anyone could say that was an exciting race. It was processional. Nobody seemed to be doing anything - it's as if they've already mentally gone home.
