Just the one Merc at the moment though. yeah Bottas has had minimal track time though to be fair. I'll be surprised if it's not a front-row lockout in qualifying Same running on the soft though he just missed out on the medium running. and he got held up by a Ferrari on his flying lap. Your point? ...

I think there's a bit more to come from Max as he got badly baulked at the chicane on his flier, bit not sure it will be enough to catch the Ferraris. Strong possibility of a Noah's Ark scenario in Qualifying with a Mercedes>Ferrari>Red Bull>Haas> lineup locking out the first four rows!

McLaren have brought a major upgrade package which completely changes their aero philosophy. A very bold move, but it hasn't translated into any track time increase as yet and they are looking pretty average. Wrong move or biding their time?

Not claiming it will get them on the podium but McLaren are seemingly making a vey bold move in completely changing their aero philosophy here in Barcelona:

Not only are Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton topping this session with their one-lap pace, the long run averages look good for them, too. Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel's averages are 1:23.1, while Charles Leclerc's is a 1:23.2. Bottas and Hamilton's? A 1:22.5 and 1:22.6. "It's looking pret...

The fastest time in second practice last year was a 1:18.259 from Lewis Hamilton, so Bottas' 1:17.2 is looking very handy indeed. It also means we've got a very good chance of seeing a new track record in qualifying tomorrow - the current record is a 1:16.173, also set last year. https://www.skyspo...

Interesting article on Mika Hakkinen in F1 Racing. On the 93 season and his experience of partnering Senna he says: "...just let's say that, for me, he was not the nicest guy in the paddock." Yeah that's pretty much the point I was making earlier. FWIW I actually don't agree with him. IMO it was absolutely the correct time to bring Leclerc in. And yes I often stumble across Villeneuve's thoughts and usually don't opt to ignore it just because it's Villeneuve. Sometimes he can make a good point and if not then there's always the comedy value....

I think this is a must win for Ferrari, if they fail to deliver here, then they can kiss their championship aspirations goodbye imho. True.
