Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

so Ferrari had sensors fitted in FP1 (at the request of the FIA?) to see if the engine is using extra power - and they are 1 second off the pace..

A solid session for Merc and the Red Bulls are where I thought they would be.

Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Well, here we go.. for me, this is the most boring race of the year.

It's such a shame that there is no way in hell that this race will ever be off the calendar.

But, as an F1 fan I'll have to grin and bear it this weekend :)

Will anybody chance a Q2 lap on ultras?

Just re watching the race. Ferraris claim Seb's second stop was slow due to holding the car is false. They were still trying to put the wheel on when Perez had passed.

Re: Time to talk about Grosjean

I remember a driver that did just fine as a rookie against an Alonso at his peak. It's OK to be beat by Alonso, but Vandoorne is simply nowhere compared to Alonso. If he were close, it'd be acceptable. But that's not a case. It's hard to judge. So much more is expected of rookies now but in reality...

I agree with Martin Brundle - they need to do something about the final chicane.

If they fixed that, it might allow a following car to get close down the straight.

I was surprised no action was taken about Max's front wing. When Hamilton and Rosberg had their moment on the last lap of Austria 2016, Rosberg was punished for completing the lap with a damaged front wing. Yesterday's incident was long before the end of the race, and somebody ran clean over the de...

Unlucky at race 1.

But, jeez can that guy moan - I reckon it's played out over the TV on purpose some times !

Not exactly team building is it.

The Ericsson comment really did make me laugh.

Solid driver, but more mistakes seem to be creeping in.

Re: Who was at fault, Ricciardo or Verstappen? (Baku 2018)

The root cause of this was the second move - which was heading away from the racing line. Regardless of how "minor" the move was, it still didn't leave racing room. This then caused Dan's loss of downforce, coupled with the dusty side of the track. Personally I reckon he'd have made the corner and w...

Honda is much more reliable & is as powerful as Renault, if not more. If Red Bull go ahead with the Honda deal, they would unofficially be the factory team so as to speak. Red Bull's patience with Renualt has also run thin with both the cars suffering engine issues in the earlier races this season....

What caught my attention is the racing room the drivers gave each other and thus the lack of incidents in comparison to the carnage we saw in F1, the racing etiquette put the F1 drivers to shame. Did you see the Baku GP2 race a couple of years ago when the lead driver misjudged where the SC line wa...

I was surprised to read that Both Riciardo and Max has been reprimanded. I don't quite see what Riciardo's done wrong. I was surprised that they waited so long for both drivers to push - it gave Seb the opportunity to save tyres as best he could. yes, they were knackered by the end of the race, but if Bottas had pushed harder earlier, it may have forced Seb into a stop to get 3rd at worst, or at least pushed him bac...

I feel the series is being held back by the tracks - I'd love to see them at Silverstone, or maybe in Hungary. Any track where it isn't a street circuit is what I really want..

Bad - you could end up with a brilliant first 20 seconds of the race, and the fun ends there as most of the field has been wiped out.

So it's pretty much nailed on for Stroll and Sirotkin for 2018. Let's hope that one of them can set a car up properly.. Setting up the car is not a priority..just bring in the money into Williams account. It's a very short term solution though if they are lacking in constructors funds next year.
