Re: 2021 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread

This track is really not needed. Drivers were finding it hard to even pass with DRS. And what benefit did turn 10 deliver? None, but it's a proper drivers track and not every single race has to be a DRS festival or mega non abrasive tarmac to throw up gotchas. One for the purists, sure, but you can...

Re: 2021 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread

Max should've pitted for the 2nd time when Lewis pitted. RB lost the race there. Yeah, the displayed estimation showed that Max would've been some 1,5 sec in front, don't understand why RBR didn't took advantage of that, as that would've been their only chance, with same tyre age they could just ab...

Re: 2021 Spanish Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

He does seem to struggle with staying on the track doesn't he. That's two off track overtakes he has had to give back and several 'lost laps' in practice as well as the lost fastest lap at Portugal last week. Dare I say poor Verstappen is feeling the heat. I can't imagine he'd be overdriving if Ham...

Re: 2021 Portugal Grand Prix Race Thread

Im not entirely averse to the FL point, and im also not entirely averse to what went on today, because eventually a team is going to reap what they sow. Imagine Max had a sticky wheel today and it cost him second, that in turn costs him the championship by 2 points when he's been told to pit for a c...

Re: 2021 Portugal Grand Prix Race Thread

Not really strange, Perez is legendarily soft on his tyres as demonstrated in this very race. What I meant is when on mediums, he was lapping as fast as the top 3, even when the tyres were quite old. When he came on softs, he was slower. Somehow, RB as a car didn't like the tarmac of this track whe...

Checo had consistent pace on mediums when compared to softs. His RB car wasn't able to fire up softs or keep them in the right temp for continuous laps. Quite a strange thing as he was quicker & consistent on mediums. Not really strange, Perez is legendarily soft on his tyres as demonstrated in thi...

Herta is young enough to make the jump, but there has to be commitment from both sides. Right now he clearly is in a purple vein, and looks like he has the innate talent to compete at the top level, but as a fan of both, I don't see why he would bail on Indy so early when he looks like he is going t...

I imagine the main implications are going to be on suspension design, the sidewall does a lot of the dampening over bumps and stuff right now, wouldn't want to be going over sausage kerbs with those tyres and rock hard suspension.

Was a good race, Herta is starting to look like he might just be a bit special. Rossi's year is over already, looks like he is trying too hard. What a race. One of the voices of my childhood, one of the all time great commentators who had seen, knew and done it all and then some. I've missed him since he retired and i'll miss him even more now, the F1 world is immeasurably poorer without his prescence.

Went for the podium. Nice to see Vettel back at the sharp end again. Got a feeling Perez has probably just won the race for the RB seat on the back of that too.

Hamilton was just masterful, what a way to win #7.

I've got a feeling Bottas year could be over by turn 2..... tyre warm up issues on a track like ice while starting slap bang in the middle of the field is a recipe for disaster. Can see more tears for Max too if he gets racey with Stroll at the start.

I really don't know why Giovinazzi gets another year. Shouldn't the same be said about Kimi in that case? Really can't say he's been much better this year.
