Re: Worst Vice-Champion?

Michael was 2nd in 1997. Frentzen and Webber would be the worst P3s. Perez has tried different setups to beat Max and this is why the car hasn't seemed as capable in his hands but it's the mental errors that's ruined this season. Frentzen is the official vice-champion of 1997. But yes, performance-...

Re: Worst Vice-Champion?

Tbh Perez has only managed to finish 2nd in the WDC, because the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th best car have been often close in performance and the order has been quite interchangable. They've all been taking points off each other all season, it's a little unusual (although welcome) to have it that close b...

Re: Worst Vice-Champion?

I don't like bashing Checo, but I do think Perez this season is up there. I feel Checo is at least 50-60 points behind where I'd consider the minimum acceptable points total given the car this year. In dominant machinery, the 2nd driver has to be scoring >60% of the points of the lead driver - espec...

I think history will judge Sainz kindly. Verstappen, Norris and Leclerc as team mates and done well against all 3, despite never really shining bright.

Of course Leclerc is better, but Sainz has probably became a bit under rated.

Low grip surface and cool temperatures gave them challenges.

The race itself was pretty good. 2/3rds into the race, we had a genuine 3 way battle for the win.

It was an entertaining race.

Cold track/air temperatures and a track with long straight sections are going to put an interesting challenge on teams and drivers.

There’s two ways of looking at this: 1. How good were they overall as drivers 2. How impressive was their world title Rosberg Senior ranks near the bottom for (2) but is above most one-time champions for (1). Asking my dad about this at breakfast this morning. One thing that gets forgotten about Ro...

When it comes to consistency and race craft, the old dog still has plenty of tricks, but ultimately I don't think he can match the relentlessness of Max. The things Alonso might still be better at that Max won't be enough. I'd expect Verstappen to come out on top 75/25 or there abouts. 10yrs ago tho...

Can only properly rank the last 35yrs. I don't think it's fair to rank drivers I never seen (i.e. Keke - a guy my dad says is one of the most underrated of all time)

Villeneuve is the worst in that time.

I think Lewis has always had George covered.

George is a good driver - he could win a WDC in the right circumstances, but he isn't Hamilton, who is undoubtedly a GOAT contender.

I'd expect Lewis to be beating a driver like George on a ratio of about 2:1 - similar to how he done against Rosberg.

I think that over the piece Ferrari, Merc and McLaren were all pretty even.

I think Hamilton and Norris had very good races, Leclerc less so and was having to manage the car a bit more than the other two.

The red flag has skewed perception a little though.

Hamilton was very good, although red flag helped.

DQ'd There is no interpretation or grey in the rules with plank wear. It's an absolute measurement, it either meets it or doesn't. Prost and Senna had very different methods of achieving similar things. Senna may well be the outright fastest man to ever sit in an F1 car. Nobody of that era, possibly ever, beats him on pure pace.
